binge eating

I am trying really hard to not binge eat. I have over came anorexia and bulemia, but the binge eating is a huge struggle. Its like even with a bag of trail,mix, I can sit down and eat the whole bag, 2220 or more cals, and still,want more, and can't stop. If anyone has struggled with this or has advice, please share. Thank you

Try entering anything you plan to binge on into the diary before you eat it. This way you force yourself to see the damage done. Try to find something to do that gets you out of the house and away from your food source.0

I am right there with you I am still recovering from anorexia and bulimia and find myself binge eating which then triggers the eating disorder. If you want add me and message me we can work through this together support is a huge part of success I believe.0

Talk to your doctor about possible helpers. If you're actually hungry they can recommend an appetite suppressant or coping techniques. If it's just that you're bored try finding something productive to do every time you get the urge to binge (ie go for a run, take up knitting, play solitaire on your phone, do 10 jumping jacks, whatever) and do the same thing every single time. After a period of time (I think generally 21 days) instead of getting the urge to eat you'll automatically do that thing.0

I have had the same problem, and I know how the urge feels. One thing that has helped me is to find out what a healthy portion or serving of the food is and put it next to what you want to eat, then you can really see how excessive the binge amount is. But as I said, I have had the same problem, sometimes you've just gotta do it. So I make sure to have something healthy around for it. I just finished a ridiculous amount of watermelon, like, I can barely sit up. But I put it in the calorie counter, 300 calories. Not ideal, and not my preferred behavior, but it's better than 2 boxes of macaroni and cheese! You can do this, it's all about choices:)0

I'm having the same problem. I made myself sick this weekend with binge eating. I feel helpless and my boyfriend doesn't help, I feel like he enjoy watching me stuff my face. I know I can't blame anyone but myself but it would be nice to have someone help me control my eating. I'm depress at this point because my stomach and back feel terrible, because I'm stuffed.0

Trail mix (generally mixed nuts, sometimes with fruit/lollies mixed in) is high calories and not much volume. Its a food designed for high calorie hiking where you need something light to carry but high energy. It's very easy to eat in excess and still want more. Try doing the same for something like rolled oats, your choice of protein or veg and and it is a lot harder. If you are having help with your past disorders, it may be a good thing to talk about.
If you didn't have the eating disorder background, I would recommend finding a food that is low calories to 'binge' on, but I don't think that would be healthy for your mentality.0 -

If following a low carb diet then yes this might be appropriate advice although foods like apples are simple carbs.
If not following a low carb diet then this is fairly redundant and certainly has very little to do with the OPs issue which I believe was clearly stated as binge eating
Also defining processed foods might be important as unless you are growing it, catching it, foraging it or milking it yourself there are processes involved in all food production

Whilst it is an excellent piece of advice to hit your macro and micro nutrients, meal and food timing is irrelevant. OP may be a grazer

You seem to misunderstand the term. CICO is merely the overriding mathematical formula at which weight loss / gain / maintenance occurs. It cannot fail. It just is. It is an umbrella under which keto, low-carb, IIFYM, sacrificing a goat at midnight on the nearest hill works for each individual.
If you choose a way of eating that suits you psychologically and physiologically then that is a personal decision and a win. But it still falls under cico ...eat more calories than you burn and you will gain weigh; eat fewer and you will lose weight; eat the same ...well I'm sure you can complete that yourself

For me binge eating is a coping mechanism. Am I stressed? Tired? Annoyed? Frustrated? Anything other than blissfully happy? Solution: BINGE! Food has long been a coping mechanism for me. I don't keep many treats in the house that are more than single serving items (i.e. an individual bag of chips/chocolate/whatever) because it's still really hard for me to eat one serving and walk away. However, I am getting better about being very mindful and trying to occupy myself when I feel like I'm going to binge...try to find something else to do, grab a book, grab a sudoku, go for a short walk, do some jumping jacks, anything but grabbing the family size bag of Doritos and going for it. Remind yourself that you the feelings of triumph over NOT binge eating will be better than feeling like crap after you binge and resetting the cycle for next time, because there will always be a next time.
TL;DR Short version: Mindfulness. Remember you will only feel awful after bingeing, you will feel awesome when you don't give in and binge.
