Hi, I am looking to lose about 45-55 pounds and have just been prescribed Contrave. What effects of this drug are you experiencing?

I am on day 5 - so I just started. I am concerned about the doubling up on the meds how has that worked for you? I found I got an upset stomach when I didn't take the meds with food on my stomach first. I have already lost 40 pounds in the past year.

Are you doing this with a doctor only? I am meeting with a personal trainer and a nutritionist and my doctor. My doctor is the one that prescribed the meds and she wanted me to discuss this with the others before I took the prescription to get their thoughts.

Day 11 for me. I started on a pill in am and pm right off. I had a really upset stomach upon waking but found it dissipated after drinking something. I had pretty bad headaches but I think it had to do with being in meetings for 3 days with no activity. The upset stomach is much less but not gone completely. I started Scaledown 3 days ago. I have lost about 8 lbs in those 11 days since I took 1st pill and logged in with mfp. I am interested in seeing when it settles into a more normal loss as i expect it to soon as my body adjusts to the med and eating less.

I have to ask my Dr if I need to go to the 2 am and 1 pm or stay as is...

I am doing this with monthly appointments with the dr. He requires a journal of calories and exercise in order to continue the meds.

Congrats on the 40lb loss... way to go :)

Are you planning to use ScaleDown?

Glad to find someone else on a similar journey!

I am not going to do the scale down program as I am currently meeting with a nutritionist and following her guidance. Honestly I haven't even looked a the scale down program. I was most caught off guard by the tension and feelings of anger at first and do feel it is getting less and less. I had to put a note on my desk at work telling me to stop - breathe - think - respond. My boss asked me what that was for and and he chuckled at me. Over the weekend I ripped my mother who is 87 - I have not told her I am taking these meds. I have only told three people and all of them are supportive, my mom would be very negative which doesn't help. I am trying to avoid the negative.

So what are you doing for exercise? I do belong to a fitness center - I have three different workout routines and I also take classes - water aerobics and body pump classes.

we can do this with the support of others. :)

I am walking the track (at least the last 3 days) getting in 2 miles in addition to whatever I get done during the day. I eventually will start getting more intense but just breaking in a regular movement plan...

A combo med that helps reduce the desire/addiction to eating
