I want to try pole dance workouts! I was wondering if anyone else here has tried? Do you like them? Do you feel you get a good workout using it? What pole are you using? I think about getting Carmen Electra pole... it seems to have good reviews. Thank you for your input.... I asked on my wall but didn't get much response from my friends list.

Yes! I love them. Great arm and inner thigh workout. I found a studio with classes, so I don't know about which pole to invest in. The only bad part about them is the bruises!! You get bruises on your legs from the pole. It's worth it, though.

Pole is the BEST. THING. period.
What it does for your strength and muscle building is wonderful, it really does a lot on toning up and making you stronger than ever before. Plus it's fun, and you don't see time pass by while working your entire body and not just specific parts only!
I've started taking classes in march or so, and now i'm not only very athletic-looking but i also gained a lot of confidence in myself/my looks and blah! ;)
I basically take 60 min classes 2-3 times per week, i count it as part of my strength training since I'm not a gym person. I do cardio 3 times a week too, i've found it can help with being more resistant and working at your max capacity for longer, extended periods of time when pole-ing! taqcbucse9sf.jpg

I've been poling for over three years now. I absolutely love it! I would not recommend the Carmen Electra pole, though. It's more of a novelty. I have an X-pole and a Lil Mynx (yes, both :)) and I feel very safe with them.

Gorgeous pics! Do you mind if I ask, @pumpkinpocalypse, where you got that black top?? I LOVE it! Been looking for something exactly like that for forever!

Thank you! :] Well actually I got it in a garage sale, but I think it comes from American Apparel? No clue if it's an old model or anything but I'm sure you could find something similar (bustiers/croptops section) in their stores, it's their kinda clothing style.

Also yep! I was about to say the same thing. I've heard many horror stories about those kind of poles (check out Pole Fails on youtube, usually its those that the poor girls are using before it falls off the ceiling), they're usually the ones sold in sex shops and meant for mostly playing sexy around the pole, not actually climb it. Cheaper yes, but they're not as solid and can be dangerous. As pole is a bunhc of acrobatics i would certainly not take the risk to put my body in danger. Invest in a X-pole, which is what most poledancing studios have, or other brands of the same quality, you'll thank yourself later.

    Screwed up the quoting. Bleah.

I am seconding her seconding because it's really that important. You don't want to risk the pole falling when your head is pointed toward the ground. :)

I love pole! I just started a few weeks ago, and could barely perform pole holds or spins. Now I'm trying all kinds of new things while slowly building my strength up. I noticed new definition in my arms and shoulders within a week, it's awesome. I got the X-pole xpert, and I LOVE it. It's extremely easy to put up and take down, and you also get a travel bag. I was skeptical to spend so much money at first, but it has been well worth it. Good luck!

I have an x pert x pole they are very affordable no reason to get anything cheaper. I can put it up and down by myself. I was more of a natural at pole since I already did yoga and I've been dancing 3 months or so and can already do inversions and jade splits (: I do recommend a class at least at first so an instructor can check your form so you don't injure yourself.

Loving my pole classes!!! And having a pole at home is super helpful - I would say required but I guess it's possible to not become addicted ;)
