since the start of this year i have been calorie counting, exercising, walking at lunch times, iv even got a personal trainer in......so why have i put on yet another stone!!!

i cant believe it! i feel gutted :o( iv been to the doctors and had had all the tests for thyroids, polysistic ovarie syndrome and hormone levels, blood pressure, changed my contraceptive pill numerous times....and still the weight isnt coming off. iv seen a nutritionist who was zero helpful. iv done 30 day shred. im currently training with a PT.

I wont lie and say iv eaten nothing but veg for 6 months but i certainly have not been eating rubbish and i know sometimes my portions can be a bit bigger but i am being honest with my diary. i even fasted all luxury foods for lent including alcohol, chocolate and crisps and takeaways...!!! iv booked in to get an allergy test done in a couple of weeks but i really feel at the end of my teather.

iv become sooo obsessed with food. iv become obsessed with my shape and now its all for nothing.

i feel so upset :'o(

why arent i losing weight!!!

Can you open your food diary? We can't help if we can't see all the facts... :)

You have to understand how food affects your body. I write about it in this blog. It's "REALLY" long. Some say it's very complex.
    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/asmcriminal/view/macro-nutrients-guide-and-how-i-lost-20lbs-in-3-weeks-108725

This article I wrote is short, it deals with not having results in weight loss, and why it happens.

I don't know about all the rest..... but I am working out with a personal trainer too.
Once I really started training a lot, my weight stalled. Inches were coming off, but I kept losing and gaining the same weight 3 times in a row.
Talk to your trainer about it. He/she might change your exercise routine. For me it helped. Once he changed my work out, and once I reduced my exercise time from 4-5 days a week to only 2-3 days, the weight came off fast!

Don't give up! Look at what you've done, search for possible mistakes and change things a bit. That should help!

    1. Are you drinking enough water?
    2. Do you get approx. 5 servings of fruits & veggies daily?
    3. Do you get 2-3 servings of low-fat dairy daily?
    4. Are you eating enough protein & fiber?

If your answers are yes, then I'd ask your primary Dr. for advice what kind of specialist you might see if all your preliminary tests are coming back negative. It's hard to do ALL those things on a daily basis, but as you do them more & more, you should start losing again.

Very true - if you open it up; we may be able to give more dietary advice. And as mamoonie said - talk to your trainer. If you have a personal trainer and are dedicated you should be able to lose weight (assuming you have that much left to lose).

What are you drinking? I don't see any liquids at ALL in your diary, and your water counts say 0 the whole way through...

just another thought.... sometimes I think the tests don't show the whole picture! I was having some difficulties and had thyroid tested, etc. but decided to take matters into my own hands. I began adding a thyroid/pituitary support elixir to my morning smoothies and pretty quickly my metabolism kicked in and started working again! I also add healthy fats (coconut oil, olive oil) to my foods/ use them to cook with instead of regular vegetable oil. I have cut out ALL sodas, white flour, and white sugar. After I did those few things... even when I have a bad day and eat the crap.... so far the weight has been coming off... SLOWLY, but still the numbers are going down. I don't even always stay within my calorie range either. I have also been taking vitamins/supplements to help balance my hormones..... so something or a combination of things has made it work.

Before I made all of those changes I was eating right (but not counting my calories or tracking exercise) and I had hit a plateau for about 3-4 months!

Good luck with your journey. I completely understand the frustration you feel. Maybe try one thing at a time for a week or two to see if you notice any changes.

iv opened up my diary. this weekend has been a lazy weekend foodwise for me but i have certainly increased my protein and i always eat veggies and i try and drink as much water as i can....(i dont think iv been logging water correctly)

i dont always eat back ALL my exercise cals because its too much for me but i dont go into starvation mode. i know all about that. My trainer is working on my shape rather than my weight but i just dont feel differnt in anyway....and i feel like this is a real set back.

sorry for being so miserable. i just feel like its all a waste :o(

Do not give up! Right now - when you are at your weakest and ready to throw the towel in is when you need to remain your strongest. Do you realize the positive changes you've already made? You are to be congratulated! What are the reasons you want to lose weight? Is it for a short time or life time? I've had a little experience with weight loss and I can say that measuring my foods helps the most. What I might "eyeball" as being 1/2 cup of rice - for example - could actually be 1 cup! 3 oz. of cooked chicken might actually be 5 oz. Good luck and don't give up. You're steps so far are positive and in the right direction.

Your diary looks pretty solid - as you said, if you're increasing veggies and up'ing your water intake - those are the only suggestions I would have. And if you are really worried about shape more than weight - I'd start measuring yourself too. Waist, hips, biceps, thighs, etc. - you may not see a difference on the scale, but maybe your body shape is changing little by little and you don't notice?

    Good luck!

haha - well as asm said - you are definitely high on carbs and probably a little low on protein - i would "adjust" your goals (customize to lower carbs) a little. and more greens never hurt anybody. the only other suggestion i would make is to not "cram in" your calories to 2 meals a day - try spreading them out a bit more. maybe try and get a little bit more lean protein too (grilled chicken (not fried/baked) or pork and maybe some no-salt-added beans? the beans would have carbs but of a good variety. Hopefully your trainer can help out too. you can get there - believe in yourself a bit more... I'm sure you've made strides already, even if they're not on the scale!

    **EDIT - grammatical changes

Ugh...I am in the same boat. I work out 6-7 days a week and burn between 600-900 calories a workout. And I have stuck to a 1200-1400 calorie diet (and am eating back my exercise calories) and I've lost nothing. No weight or inches. It's extremely frustrating expecially as I sit here sore from my workout and know that I haven't helped anything!

"ready to give up" is a good place. It means you're ready for some changes. As long as we are doing this with the sense of "I can do this without really digging deep and making big changes" we have this relief valve in the back of our minds that we can go back to the way we were once we reach our goal weight.

It's when the rope is gone and we're stranded that we finally realize we can't keep a way to escape when it gets tough. And then we can make those deep changes.
    <soapbox-mode OFF>

I'm glad you're saying what your saying and sticking around. It is frankly much easier just to quit, go back to the way we were, and say "we tried." You're showing that you're not really going to quit, because you're looking for a way to get to the next level.

So with that said, I encourage you to adjust your exercise and eating patterns to find what works for you. Keep at it - the goal is really to change your lifestyle so it's healthy. Weight loss will come if you reduce and balance your food intake.

    Good luck.

so i'm no expert and don't claim to be but i know what works for me. i looked at your diary, you have poor eating schedules and habits. you are in the red most days and skip breakfast and all the little meals in between! on the day you only eat 2 meals ..you hit your calorie goal the days that you eat all day your over. i've had the same frustration until i came hear and tracked my calories to the T! now each "meal" i have is 300 calories with a snack between each"meal" worth 150 calories! ( some days i steal from my snack count to have a bigger meal, but still have the snack, just smaller) make your food a habbit! I don't fall into NO carbs because this is something i want to "live" with and i can't "live" without my carbs! its a lifestyle change so do what fits into your life! i think make your eating more of a habbit! there is lots of advise and opinions on here that say eating little meals a day do nothing for you but i think it keep my metabolism up. Good luck to you, i hope it all works out!

40% carbs is okay. You're goal is set to 55%. I am like 3 time bigger than you, no joke. II lost 20lbs in 3 weeks. I try to eat under 100 carbs a day. You're almost eating double that.
