So many Yogurts to choose from

Hi all, I have been including a Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt in quite a few of my daily Food Diaries. I get a little overwhelmed when looking at all the choices in the Yogurt section. Is there a better Yogurt choice I could be making?

Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt is one of my favorites. Low cal and good amount of protein. Not sure where your at but i just discovered the supermarket chain Stater Bros has their own brand plain greek yogurt that is 80 cals and has 14 grams of protein. I buy this and add flavored sweetener to it. It depends on your goals. I look for lowest calories with hightest protein.0

Greek yogurt has more protein typically, so it's a more filling choice.0
-
There may be other choices but, for my taste, none better! I love Dannon Light and Fit Greek and eat it almost every single day! The vanilla coconut with fresh berries is heaven on a spoon!0
-
If you have a Trader Joe's nearby, their Non Fat Greek yogurt is great. 120 calories, 7 g carb, 22 g protein in 1 cup serving.0

Fage 0% fat Greek Yogurt. The fruit/jam/honey comes in a separate compartment so you can add as much or as little as you like with the yogurt in each bite. The yogurt is thick, tangy and really good. I don't know about Dannon, but apparently if the label says Greek "style" yogurt it isn't actually Greek yogurt - it's had thickeners added and you aren't getting the health benefits of actual Greek yogurt.0
-
^ I second Fage. You can also replace sour cream with the plain 0% for cooking purposes.0
-
Fage here too. I prefer it above all others I've tried.0

I like the Yoplait greek whips, feels like I'm eating dessert0

Love those (especially when I dip strawberries in them), but not filling at all for me. But again I guess most yogurts are not filling for me.
My favorite ones are the Fage classic ones with fruit. So delicious, but a lot of calories, as they are full fat.0 -
I love Fage - I'll stock up when it's on sale. The regular price is not worth 1.50% the price of others.
Meijer has Pumpkin Greek year round (yum!). Aldi has a decent 100 calorie yogurt (as does Meijer). I like Chobani (regular Greek) not their 100 calorie. It has chicory root added (does a number on my stomach)....ugh!
Dannon Light a Fit is ok - it's a little too fake tasting for me. It's partially the no calorie sweetener, and the texture is kind of chalky.
This is interesting info on all the different additives: http://www.eatwellwithgina.com/2013/08/whats-in-your-greek-yogurt/
Coloring agent - Carmine - crushed bugs....yum0 -
My dietician says a good yogurt should have proteins in decent amount some fat no sugars added ideally no artificial sweetener but aside from me I don't know many people who like natural yogurt. The ingredient list should me short : milk bacterial culture maybe milk protein. That is on a nutritional point of view. for taste is something else0

Walmart has the cheapest regular price I've found on the individual Fage yogurts - .99 most of the time. Usually the local supermarket is 1.50 or so.0
-
Fage 0% - thick and tangy, good with fresh fruit or Chobani 100 Pina Colada flavor, very yummy by itself0

yoplait whips. love them, i buy them buy the case at Sams club!0

Yogurt can be expensive here, so I'm pretty brand agnostic. I look at what's on sale first, then see if I can find something with a decent protein/calorie/serving size ratio. Unless there's a good deal on the single-serving cups, I usually just buy a large tub of vanilla yogurt then add in frozen fruit when I dish it into a single serving size to take to work.
That said, I do love the creaminess of Chobani and stock up when I go on US shopping trips.0 -
My favorite is Brown Cow -- the plain kind!0

The Lite & Fit is by far BY FAR my favorite. I love the Toasted Vanilla Coconut and really like the Cappucino one as well. I never liked a yogurt before this and I've tried quite a few.0

Surprisingly, Walmart (Great Value) store brand Greek nonfat yogurt is really good, and is actually REAL strained Greek yogurt. I stay away from anything that has fillers and thickeners, because it's "fake" Greek yogurt. You can always buy a bigger tub for cheaper and add what you want to it. Much better than artificial sweeteners that give a nasty aftertaste, and pectin/carrageenan/whatever added to thicken it. Real Greek yogurt has tons of protein. Fage is also real, and yummy. But pricey. Most yoplait/dannon stuff I find to be like a yogurt version of a candy bar.0

I'm all for the Dannon Oikos Triple Zero greek yogurt. 120 calories, 15g protein and 6g of fiber. I'll eat 1-2 of those every day.0

I like skyr, which is the Icelandic yogurt... it's basically another version of Greek yogurt. Around here Siggi's is the only brand that's sold. They tend to keep ingredients pretty simple, they taste good, and it's (relatively) high in protein for what it is.0
-
Siggis are awesome, I agree.
I also like the Carbmaster brand, very low in calories/high in protein. They do have a bit of an artificial taste to them, but I like my sweet stuff, so I dont really mind. I mostly eat the light and fit greek yogurts tho0 -

I LOVE the Carbmaster yogurt. The cinnamon roll and caramel spice flavors are freaking delicious.

Why not make your own? This way you control what's in it!0

I like these ones as well. Strawberry and coconut cream flavor are my favorites.0 -
I wish stores would stock less non-fat Greek yogurt and offer better choice. 2% or 5% please.
I won't buy any yogurt that uses thickeners, there's simply no need for that crap.0 -

I'm not a fan of Dannon Light & Fit. They add artificial sweeteners and thickeners (among other things,) that I don't like. I usually make my own yogurt due to cost reasons, but when I buy greek yogurt. I usually go with either Stonyfeild Organic or Fage. Both cost about the same, and both are delicious. Stonyfeild in particular makes a salted caramel flavor that tastes SO GOOD and makes for a wonderful dessert, especially if you put a dollop of Cocowhip on too or shave a little dark chocolate onto it.
That said, Siggi's is my favorite out of all yogurt. It's technically Skyr, not greek yogurt, but it's the thickest yogurt that I've ever been able to find. Thicker than sour cream -- seriously.
On another note, have you ever tried goat milk yogurt? Trader Joes makes a wonderful one. That place I work at carries Redwood Hills Farm goat milk yogurt, and I always snatch up all that I can whenever it goes on sale. Between my employee discount and the sale on the yogurt itself, I can usually get the single serve cups for about $0.14 each. Goat milk yogurt isn't thick like greek yogurt, but it has a creamy consistency to it that makes you think that you're getting a whole milk yogurt, even though goat milk is similar to 2% cow's milkin terms of fat. I really reccomended trying it.0 -
I too love and have the total 0% fage yoghurts almost everyday but I recently discovered a new high protein snack in my supermarket...its called Arla Protein and its actually Quark but comes in strawberry or blueberry flavour and one small pot has 20g of protein! Its so filling...0
-
I like Siggi's too but I only buy it when it's on sale, so not very often
REALLY wish we had Quark around here.0 -
If you got a Trader Joe's near you, the Trader Joe's brand of Greek yog is 190 cals and 18 grams of protein a serving. Also tastes great!0
