As long as it is between sets, I don't care if people walk up and introduce themselves. My old gym was very social so I always enjoyed being there.

I'm married, but I don't mind offering advice for some. I'm shy at first and blush easily, so being directly hit on is embarrassing. I would have responded well to someone asking to work out with me or wanting to exchange tips or weightloss stories. Make her laugh.

You don't. I should add that there are regulars that say hey and all that, but I prefer to just workout and get done.

If I am between sets, I don't mind talking. I may tell someone good set at times, even if I am not waiting on the machine. I treat people as I would like to be treated, whether at the gym or anywhere else. If I see someone is busy, in zone, got the earbuds going, I am not going to interrupt them by trying to talk to them.

Unfortunately, a lot of ladies get tense and start thinking you want to try and pick them up, just because you pay them an honest compliment or word of encouragement. That general tenor happens outside of the gym as well.
