Bored with walking so I did a little research today for ideas & found some good info... "Hula Hooping: Burn Calories While Having Fun" http://fyiliving.com/health/fitness/hula-hooping-burn-calories/ So if I mix up my exercise routine by throwing in some hula hooping (with an exercise hoop), dancing or Dance Dance Revolution, swimming, & elliptical... maybe, just maybe, I won't be bored. :-)

Jumping rope or jumping on a trampoline are fun ways to mix it up too
  • I got a Hoopnotic exercise hoop and I love it! Its weighted to give you an extra burn and easy to store because it comes apart. It even came with 2 dvds.

Jump rope is awesome too! It is a major calorie burner. Get some good tunes on and get to work:) Good luck!

I like walking too - usually walking DVDs (got sick of the treadmill after awhile). I mix it up with step aerobics. Really fun.

Are you walking outside? If not, get outside - it makes every walk different so not boring. Even walking the same routes over and over are different each day - different weather, different traffic/people to watch, different light depending on what time you go out. I trained to walk a marathon 5 years ago. I walked 3 or 4 days a week and never got bored. The mid week walks would involve me walking to work (direct route = 4 miles, by the end of training I was adding detours to make it up to 7 miles) 2 or 3 times a week. And despite the fact that there are only a limited number of routes between A and B when A and B are fixed points, it was a different experience each time.

Plus, walking outdoors is slightly hrader than treadmill walking, so burns more calories

I walk 3-4 times a week for about 50 minutes each time. I do this in a huge mall near my office, so the weather doesn't impact my walking. I keep from getting bored by listening to podcasts on my iPod. NPR has a bunch of great programs to listen to. Check out "The Story" with **** Gordon. "Fresh Air" with Terry Gross. "Talk of the Nation", "Science Friday", "Car Talk". I start listening to one of those programs, and before I know it, I've burned 350 calories. I also use an Elliptical machine 4-5 days a week. For that, I have TV shows that I've Tivo'd.
