5k - running or walking

Hello
If I travel 5k on foot will I burn the same number of calories regardless of the speed I do it at? So will a sprint burn the same number of calories as a slow amble?
There will obviously be differences in the amount of time taken and in other benefits such as cardiovascular health, but is the calorie burn approximately the same?
Thanks

No, running burns more calories per mile than walking.0

I somehow doubt anyone would be sprinting 5K but running burns approximately 2 x the calories compared to walking for the same distances
Walking: .30 x weight (in lbs) x distance (in miles)
Running: same formula but factor is .63

It felt like running should burn more calories but I couldn't think of a scientific reason why as you are moving your weight the same distance - now I know. Thanks for the link.0
