Has anybody else been using it? Has it worked well? I have been using this as my "homework" everyday, that and playing Michael Jackson: The Experience (Guilty Pleasure...)

Thanks! I've been doing it for quite some time, even before using MFP, it's pretty effective but I wasn't sure if anyone else had any success stories or certain things you have to avoid when doing this workout.
Thanks again.0 -

I've recently acquired turbo jam cardio party and have only done it twice, both times without finishing it.
I'm still up in the air about it. If I had to pick, I think I'd prefer zumba.. I react more to awesome music, which zumba has, and cardio party gets soooo dullllll and they workout in a grey room!0 -
I LOVE Turbo Jam (TJ)!!! There's a wide variety of types of workouts (some more athletic, one uses the stability ball, etc). I have found TJ to be the ONLY home workout DVDs that I have used regularly, consistently, do not get annoyed with the host/hostess, and still very much enjoy after 4 yrs. I have tried Biggest Loser, Walk Away the Pounds, Yoga Booty Ballet (HATED THAT WITH A PASSION!! The hostesses were on my nerves in like 10 seconds!!), Core Rhythms, Zumba (which I still like but don't LOVE), Jillian Michaels, the BenderBall, among a few other misc ones. TJ is it for me! I have just started ChaLean Extreme (same host as TJ, Chalean Johnson, but more intense and focused more on the strength training aspect than TJ was). Turbo Fire is next for me after I've completed my ChaLean Extreme 90day schedule. Turbo Fire is INTENSE interval training. Beachbody.com will give you all the info on those if you are interested. Or go to YouTube.com also.
For TJ, I have: the 5 workout set which includes 1)Learn and Burn where you learn the main moves and combinations Chalean uses in the TJ dvds, 2) 20minute workout - don't let it fool you, you still sweat!!! , 3) Ab Jam, 4) Turbo Sculpt - the one true strength training dvd of the TJ set . It my first strength training one ever and I found it pretty easy to use as a first timer 5) I think the 5th is a cardio Party. I also have the Punch Kick and Jam dvd (which is more athletic and less "dancy" than some of the others, has more karate and marshal arts moves in it), and the Fat Blaster (which is a bunch of what's called "turbo drills", basically a section of each workout that you push your heartrate up super high, basically a 10 second interval training). On any one of the cardio ones, I burn an average of 350cals in 30mins. She always has at least one person on the DVD you can watch to keep the intensity lower if you need that, and you can ALWAYS modify the movements yourself as well (don't kick as high, don't punch as intensely, don't jump but rather just march in place, etc). One of the girls on the video, Mindy, has always kept it low impact and she lost 45lbs. So just because it's lower impact/intensity doesn't mean you won't get a great workout if you do it right!! My first time using it (when I first bought it 4yrs ago), I was able to lose 40lbs in 4.5months with this as my primary form of exercise. I have since fallen off the wagon and so I gained all that weight (plus some) back. So I'm going to shed it all once again using Chalean Johnson's workouts because I think she's amazing, very motivating, and the music/workouts are fantastic!
*Point of clarification: They aren't really a "dance" workout as in you learn a dance routine and use dance movements (ramba step, cha cha, etc). It is all boxing, marshal arts, and kickboxing movements, but they do turn out to be somewhat "dancy". The music is definitely fast beat, high energy, get-your-butt-up-and-dance music and that's what makes it fun! There is a few moves that look like you're just wiggling your butt/hips around, but it's actually standing ab work so it does have a purpose! So while it may look "dancy", it isn't really a dance workout. It is based on boxing, kickboxing, and various forms of marshal arts.
Hope this helps! Good luck to you!!0 -
