Seeing muscles already?

I'm obese, I now weigh 236 after dropping 20lbs, I've had a personal trainer for the last 3 weeks, an hour 3 times per week. We've done weights and HIIT. It's been brutal sometimes but very enjoyable.
So the last couple of days I've noticed when I look down at my arms I can see muscle. Is it really possible to see my muscles showing so soon?
He showed me the photo he took the day we started, Sunday night and he was buzzing over seeing a difference already lol.
I'll attach my snapchat shot lol
What do you think?

Also I've not lost any weight since working out with him, I'm wondering if it's because I'm building muscle? The day after 200 squats I couldn't move lol0

If you are watching you diet, the fact you haven't lost weight means that what you are seeing is your muscles retaining water to heal and repair. Your muscles are basically "swollen". Being obese you could build a little bit of muscle on a deficit, but it doesn't happen in 3 weeks and even when it does the amount built would not be obviously visible, at least not after only 3 weeks.
You should be happy though. This inflammation means you're really working your muscles and making progress.0 -
That's what I was thinking, thank you0

Progress pics are the best. I agree you wont have that much muscle yet, but the minute things start to get a bit stringer its visible in your posture and standing. Even if the weight hasn't started coming off yet, the fact that you notice a difference is GREAT. Keep up the good work and in 12 weeks you'll be amazed at how far you have come.0

Thank you, he keeps telling me how I'll find things easier and see big differences soon enough. I felt different, you know when yo just know, you feel it, so I asked him to show me the before pic from 3 weeks ago, he said I won't see a difference yet, but when he looked he was big time excited that there was a clear (to him) difference, I couldn't much tell but I know I feel different already, no doubt at all of that. The fact I'm waking up at 4:30am to go to the gym proves dedication alone lol

You already have an answer, so I just want to say great job! Just keep at it!0

HIIT is very hard and isn't designed as a starting point. It can have great results and it might actually be possible that you are starting to see some definition. If you're enjoying HIIT, go for it. But most people stick with a gradual build up plan.
