Eat the toast. There are low calorie breads and spreads if you're really concerned. Or, just find a good whole grain bread, or perhaps Ezekiel bread, that you like, use just enough butter to cover it, and have the treat. I'm not saying 5 pieces a day, but allow yourself something you enjoy, within your calorie limit.

There is nothing wrong (or unhealthy) with eating a slice of buttered toast.

If only my worst craving was a piece of bread with butter on it. That should be easy to fit into pretty much any calorie limit. What exactly is unhealthy about it?

Perhaps I shouldn't mention the Edy's Slow Churned ice cream with Reese's puffs that I eat every night without gaining a single pound? Eat the foods you like, just don't routinely go over your calorie limit. Eating mostly nutritious foods is fine, but trying to maintain a 100% "clean" diet (whatever that means) is simply unnecessary. No foods are bad - food is just food.

Fit it into your day. Trade out a roughly equal number carbs, fats, and cals from something else.

If it fits into your calorie numbers for the day, it is healthy. <3

While I spent 3 years losing 85 pounds I often had a slice of really good sourdough toast with a light coating of butter (say 1/2 tablespoon), about the same amount of raw honey, and sprinkled with cinnamon. It is still one of my go to treats, like a snickerdoodle. Sometimes just the butter is good when I want savory instead of sweet.

All you have to do is PLAN it in. That is exactly what MFP is all about. Not depriving yourself.

The hard part is we all want MORE. So have your slice, and remind yourself YOU CAN HAVE MORE TOMORROW. :)
