When someone's lack of faith increases your desire ...

My only child (daughter) is going to college in a couple of weeks. She says I won't see her until Thanksgiving (which I really don't believe since her college is so close, but nonetheless). I mentioned to her that maybe I'd use that time to buy new clothes, get a good haircut, start getting more serious about losing weight/exercising and generally taking care of myself and then she'd come home to a new mom. She said she could see it going the other way and I'd get all depressed and eat my feelings. Now, she was joking and we had a good laugh. Maybe I'm one of those people who like to say "I told you so", but she's got me thinking. Spent all morning making all the dr. appointments I've been postponing, so far saying no to the lone brownie sitting on the counter, and feeling very positive about making some changes and focusing on me instead of everyone else. I'll never be the person I was 17 years ago when I became a mother, but I can be better than I am today. So, cheers to the hard work it's going to take to find myself!

Prove her wrong. I would say prove yourself wrong but you know you can do it.0

Go get it done woman!
PS, I love throwing stuff out, so I probably would have thrown that last brownie in the trash if I wasn't going to eat it. I figure it there's only one left, my family,by now, has had plenty chance to enjoy them and that last one may be going stale any way. And I love getting rid of clutter.0 -
You can do this. It's great motivation.

This is your time!!! While you are at it, clean your kitchen too. Clear off the counter so that you have room for preparing new/modified low calorie foods for yourself.0

You brought her into this world and you can, just as easy, take her *kitten* right back out of it.
I think it's time to let her know.0 -
What a great goal! Picture the proud look on her face when she sees all your hard work paid off!0

Just to clarify, she was not being mean ... just kidding me. We love each other dearly and I did not take offense. She knows how hard it will be for me to say "goodbye" when she leaves because she's been my whole world for 17 years. But I can't wait to re-capture the "old me" now that it doesn't feel so selfish. (Why do moms feel guilty when we do any little thing for ourselves?)0 -
Sounds like it's *kitten* kicking time. (By that I mean kicking *kitten* at taking care of yourself, not your kids)0

I love it when someone tells me I can't do something. It makes me angry and I use the anger to get it done. Hopefully it works the same for you. Keep us posted!0
