My question is...how many calories do I need to be consuming daily? I walk a mile a day, do some prenatal yoga about twice a week, and do a few things on my exercise ball nightly. I still keep gaining though. Any advice? Words of wisdom? Etc?

I would ask your OB to refer you to a dietitian. A dietitian would be better able to advise you on pregnancy nutrition and how much to eat so that you don't gain than random internet strangers.0

A referral is a good idea. It will be hard for internet strangers to give you guidance, knowing nothing about you.
BUT general theory: move a little more, eat a little less. If you are walking a mile a day now and medically cleared to do so - try walking 1.5-2 miles a day. Assess how you're eating now. You probably do not want to do anything drastic - but look for little things you can do. Switch sugary soda/juice/teas for lower sugar/lower cal alternatives. Eat less fried and more grilled/baked food. Slightly smaller portions. Less creams & sauces.0 -
Thanks!!!! I'll ask her at my next appointment!0

Baby does so much growing in them last 8 weeks. So surely you'll gain the weight your baby gains.
What's the reason for not gaining anymore?0 -
I would get this recommendation from your OB.0

I would eat as healthy and clean as possible while trying to not over eat. Fruits, veggies , leans meats etc.0

This makes me so cranky for you. Babies gain 0.5-1 full pound a week at this stage. She wants you to go on a 500 calorie a day deficit? Ugh. Sometimes your body just gains what it wants to. Unless you're very overweight (and were to begin with), I would focus more on eating nutritious food until you're full (let's be honest - you can't eat quit as much as you used to based on physiology, as baby is starting to take up more room inside your body) but not past full, and getting as much activity as you can - lots of walking, swimming if you enjoy it, etc.
I say to eat nutritious food at this point because you will need to continue to increase your stores of vitamins and minerals as baby continues to leech them from you. Calories (in this case) aren't enough. As much fruit and veg as you can, with dairy and meat and grains if you tolerate it. Try to stay clear of "empty" calories, while they will give you energy, they're not going to do you an favours post pregnancy when your vitamin stores are depleted.

Call & ask the nurse or receptionist ... they may be able to get you set up with a dietitician right away. After all, you don't have much time left! You probably won't be eating at a deficit because you and your baby both have higher nutritional needs right now...you just need to be sure you're eating good nutritional foods in the correct amounts. May as well get a good post-partum plan set up at the same time so you can keep the good habits going after Baby is born!

Can't gain any more weight? Sweet. Back up the ice cream truck.
Oh. Dang. Shouldn't gain any more weight.
Yeah, dietitian, then.0
