How many days in a row, being a newbie, do you work out then rest?

When I first started I worked out every other day. Then, when I wasn't as sore, I did two days in a row and had a rest day. As I got more experienced I was able to cycle which body parts I worked to avoid working an area when it was sore. I still took 1-2 rest days per week.0

Kinda depends on what kinda workouts we're talking about0

It really depends on if you're focusing on specific areas or if you're doing an all over workout. I don't really have a set schedule for days worked out & days off. For me, it really depends on what kind of activity I've been doing. Sometimes after a long, hard hike I may take the next day off because I'm usually pretty sore, but if I have like an arm & back day, I'd rest those areas the next day & focus on legs & butt.
I think it's really an individual thing. If you feel like you've overdone it & need a rest day then take it!0 -

I have double knee replacement so I'm limited to my leg exercises :-(0

General rule of thumb is a minimum of 48 hrs rest between exercises that target the same muscle or group of muscles, if you are working at 85%+ of your max capacity.
So, every other day for full body routines, split sessions for targeted, etc. are all options.
I am currently on a Sun - Tue - Thurs schedule, doing full body and cardio each session.0 -

You're an 18 year old male, part time physiologist that hasn't had a lifetime of wear and tear that's led up to double knee replacements. I'd venture to guess that your situation is just a wee bit different than the OP.0
