Getting Healthy for Pregnancy

I recently got married, and my husband and I have struggled to conceive. The doctor said while weight isn't harming our chances to GET pregnant, it could really cause problems during pregnancy. It was definitely one of those moments when I thought to myself, "It's time to really make a change". I've lost weight before, and like many others, gained it back then a bit more. I'm lucky to have a very supportive husband, who lost over 75lbs himself.
I have been a fitbit walker for over a year, but I wasn't really watching what I was eating. I think I'm finally just coming around to admitting to my toxic relationship with food. I LOVE food. I wake up just so I can have breakfast. I talk myself into how it's okay to eat dessert - "I had a bad day. I deserve this slice of pie". I once read that you should never make food a reward, and I think that's the mentality I need to roll with. If I've had a bad day, why not a warm bath or a walk with my husband and three dogs?
Time to change my mentality! Anyway, I joined MyFitnessPal in 2012, but I'm really just starting. I'm hoping to become friends with like-minded strong-willed people, who are on a similar journey to mental and physical health. And hopefully for me, this will assist in a pregnancy and much healthier mom to my future children.

Feel free to add me if you'd like! I'm recently married and even though kids are a few years in the future for us, I'm trying to make a healthy lifestyle change now.0

Fitbit challenges are great motivation—and fun.cheezypotato wrote: »I once read that you should never make food a reward, and I think that's the mentality I need to roll with. If I've had a bad day, why not a warm bath or a walk with my husband and three dogs?
If what you're feeling isn't hunger, food won't make you feel any better.
I keep a mental list like yours of non-food ways to make myself feel better. Mine includes watching guilty pleasure TV, walking outdoors, or getting a massage.0 -
Add me! My husband and I will be trying to conceive once I get to a healthy weight.
And I get the love for food. Addiction runs strong in my family and food was mine. I'm glad you have a supportive husband - it helps so much!0
