Exercise is bummer

Hi,
I have recently realized I m eating....in its all high in carbs n chips n drinks.
I downloaded fitnes pal and calorie check is best way to keep myself on track.
But somehow I m unable to put myself out for exercise. I know I need it...I work and mine is sitting job. Last time I lost 20 lb and it all came back so I m not motivated to hit gym.
Please help me push myself to gym. I need to shed 30 lb. I gained sadly after I left exercise for nearly 2 years
Note: all my school n college friends who were not healthy... Seem to have found their way. Why is it so hard for me???!

Eh....to tell you the truth exercise is only about 10% of weight loss - for the most part it is diet. Lifting weights would make a difference since it would increase your BMR - the rate at which your calorie normally burns calories at rest. But don't kick yourself for not running, or what not. Unless a serial killer is chasing you, your should still be fine. You are not overly large, so your natural rate of loss will be annoyingly slow, but that is part of it. If it took 2 years to gain it, it makes sense to take at least half that time to lose it.

Get your food consumption under control first as you wont go anywhere without being able to eat at the correct level. Its the amount you eat and not what you eat that matters for weight loss.
Find soemthing you cna enjoy and stick to. It doesnt have to be the gym. Swimming and walking are good starts.0 -
Lifestyle changes - I lost and regained too.
At least 80% of weight loss will be your calorie INtake. Sure, exercise helps a bit but you technically don't have to do any exercise for losing weight, or for keeping it off. Your choice.
Instead of the gym, why not try to find something active that you enjoy doing. If you can find something you like to do, chances are you will still be doing it many years from now.0 -
You can lose weight without exercise, because all you need is a caloric deficit which can be accomplished through eating less. That being said, exercise has tons of benefits, too. It's great for your heart and in some people it's a natural anti-depressant and helps them sleep better. There is no need to rush in head first with the gym and all that, as it seems to turn you off. Start building up more activity in your day, like walking more. Find fun stuff you like to do like riding a bike or hiking...the point is to keep moving.0

Waiting won't make any changes, so start as soon as possible. If you don't want to go to the gym find any other exercise which will make you happy and not hard to go for. Maybe you'll find some desire to attempt a gym with losing weight or exercise variation.0

I agree wih everyone. The majority of weight loss comes from diet, but exercise helps tone you and makes you feel stronger. I suggest starting slow with something you enjoy doing then making it harder as your body adapts. It's all a mind game. Once you start working out, you will enjoy doing it so it will no longer be something you have to do but something you want to do. Good luck!0

Exercise is not required for weight loss, that will come from eating at a deficit.
However, if you find an activity you enjoy, exercise is great for your overall physical and mental health. Keep trying things until you find something you like to do.0 -

Its OK to focus on changing your 3ating habits and getting into the logging habit first, and then add exercise later on. And you dont need to jump in to a gym immediately either. How about a 10 minute walk around the block at lunchtime or after work when you get home? Every little bit counts!0

This. It's not all or nothing and I think some of us fall into that trap. Simply moving a little more - even hula hooping or running in place during TV commercials would be a small and attainable step.
I agree with everyone else with the food - get that under control and then gradually add in exercise.0 -
Is that funny?! I love e'xercise!' I love to get out and walk or go to the gym. Exercise can be all manner of things to dancing to the radio or joining a club or just walking to the dairy every morning to collect the paper. And exercise will make you feel and look hot0

I don't attend a gym because of my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome & because I have to take the bus. I'd spend all of that time traveling, only to possibly be able to do 15 minutes to a half an hour of exercising. However I do desire to join 1, that I know of that offers a free monthly session with a nutritionist & a free hour with a personal trainer, plus I love to swim but reside in New Jersey & my apartment complex's swimming pool isn't heated & indoors, so I'd like to go swimming there then, when the weather outside isn't warm enough.
For me exercise videos don't work because I'd rather use that time to watch a television show, documentary or movie & I have to have an exercise "toy" to play with, otherwise it becomes boring; for me. So I bought exercise equipment & watch something, that I desire to instead, when exercising.
Since I spend a lot of my time in the kitchen preparing meals, I am going to put a television in there & buy a compact stool pedal exerciser, so that I am able to multi task more efficiently.0 -
There are exercises other than the gym so try and find something you enjoy; even just walking up and down stairs rather than using lifts or escalators will help but why nice consider walking, cycling, dancing, using a skipping rope, WiFit, exercise bike while you watch tv. Do something you really enjoy will really get you into exercise and you'll start to look forward to your daily sessions0
