Steps calorie allowance accuracy?

i wanted to see if anyone had insight about this. I walk around a bit but when walking with my girlfriend her Fitbit gives her less steps than my iPhone gives me. I figure hers should be more accurate and if anything I should have less steps since I have a longer stride. Anyway because of this I always get a bunch of calories for steps but didn't know if they were real or accurate or just giving me false safety net that holds me back.

Does anyone has any insight into this?

Fitbits and any of those things are only accurate 50% of the time I have heard.

I hear you should only count half of the calories you burn on these trackers.

Well, they both can be off some. Nothing is completely accurate.
Many people only eat back half the calories given to them for this reason.
