My gym instructor seems to think that eating 1500 cals a day is too little and that I should go for 2000, as men need 2500 to maintain. I dont know what if I should follow his advice or stick with what i'm doing?

There are more variables that you need to account for. How many calories are you burning at the gym? Do you use a heart rate monitor when you work out to know how many calories you burned? Etc. It also has a lot to do with your lifestyle. My work is sedentary. I know for a fact that I don't burn 2500 calories a day just by doing my regular routine. Perhaps you should discuss these things with your instructor.

The guy had some good advice(in a previous post). Keep in mind youre "learning" what works best for you. If you can manage 1500 without any complicatoins then do it. If you can't, do 2000. Then work your way down over a few months. It's about progress. My gym instructor seems to think that eating 1500 cals a day is too little and that I should go for 2000, as men need 2500 to maintain. OK.. so i changed the settings on my profile as I had set it to 1/2-2lbs weight loss and put it down to 1lbs. This seems far more sensible! Time to eat those calories back.. in a good way0
