Frustrated!

So, I've been eating clean for the past three weeks. I've created a calorie deficit and am sticking to my new healthy lifestyle completely. I've even started exercising (P90X) and am four days in. I'm not losing any weight. I did lose a pound and a half right before I started P90X, but have since gained a pound back. What am I doing wrong? I've got ten extra pounds clinging to me for dear life and I'm ready for them to be gone, lol!!! Would love to hear your thoughts on what I can do to make my goals happen.

Are you weighing all of your foods? It doesn't matter what you eat, it's how much. So clean or dirty - you have to be in a calorie deficit to lose. And if you're not weighing, you don't really know whether you are or not.

If you've only been doing it (logging and exercising) for four days, then you just need to be patient and give it more time. 4 days is nothing, especially after starting a strenuous exercise program like P90X. The workouts will likely cause you to retain some water until your body gets used to it.

You're only 10 lbs from your goal, so that weight is going to take longer. Just keep weighing your food (if you are) and keep working out & it'll slooowly creep down. I know it's hard to be patient. But expect to lose maybe .5 pounds a week, just don't let that discourage you. The extra pound was probably just water weight from your new workout & your sore muscles.

Time, patience, consistency with logging, accuracy with food intake.

Just because the scale says you have gained a pound, that doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong. Our weight fluctuates every day. More than likely that weight gain is merely a result of water retention at that given period.

The scale is a tool. It is not the totality of all that you are about.

Water weight, due to new workout....Keep doing what you are doing....With only 10lbs to lose, take measurements, don't worry about the scale, and have patience...

Eating clean and exercising doesn't not necessarily lead to weight loss. Your calorie deficit is key. Make sure you're weighing your food, log everything, be patient. When you are down to only 10 pounds being lost, it is very slow...

It's pretty normal for the scale to go up when you begin doing new exercise and using new muscles. I wouldn't. Fluctuations of a pound or two are normal, as well, especially if you eat a high-sodium diet. You have to watch the overall trend.

Ten pounds could easily take 20 weeks to lose, if you figure half a pound a week. Some weeks may show noting and then after a week or two, you drop a pound all at once. Some people "whoosh" like that - not losing for a while and then dropping a bunch all at once. It's very normal. The fat cells aren't doing the same math we are. They have their own math, lol.

Don't give up on the logging. Keep logging. A lot of people find that a food scale helps them to get the best estimate on calories. Sometimes a portion might have more calories than the label indicates.

Don't give up on improving your diet! I did a 100% flip from crappy to healthy. There are ups and downs. Sometimes you fail. Stick with it, keep working on a healthy diet. It's good for you! True changes take a long time to become permanent. I really think that you need at least a year of it under your belt before you should start judging yourself.

Hang on there and keep working, even...in fact, especially when it's hard.

    Don't quit. You'll get there.

Thanks, everyone! I'm NOT going to give up. Yes, I am weighing all of my food. I also took measurements and before and after pictures. Okay, so I'm gathering the key thing here is to just be patient. Darn it! I'm an instant gratification girl, lol. I want to see the results of my efforts now! I did a round of P90X four years ago and felt and looked the best I ever have. So disappointed with myself for not keeping it up. I WILL stick with it this time :)

Be patient. Weigh/measure your food carefully. Log everything faithfully. The weight will come off.

It may not come off on timetable that you have imagined. And, despite your best efforts, there may be weeks when you lose nothing or even see a gain. (I'm assuming you've heard of "hormones" and "water weight").

So, to recap: Patience. Realistic expectations. Weighing. Measuring. Logging. That's all you need.

    Good luck!

Patience is huge! I have trouble with it, too. The more I lose - the close to being where I want to be! - the more I want to get there. It's like on road trips - you drive for two full days to get home, but the last three hours are the hardest. So close, but yet so far.

Hang in there. You have no choice but to wait, so you kind of HAVE to be patient. It sucks, but (and I kind of hate this expression) it is what it is.
