Buying a Scale for the First Time

Hi there. I have never owned a scale. I hate them and am scared of them. I am getting weighed today at the doctor, but I need one for home as well. This is a huge step for me, buying a scale. Does anyone have any advice for a good, not too-expensive, and accurate household scale?
Thanks! Jennifer

To be honest, if you feel that strongly about it maybe you shouldnt buy one. If you can get weighed at the doctors why not just do that, and if you want to track your progress at home try measuring instead, or use the fit of your clothes as a guide?0

This is the scale I got a few months ago. I weigh a 12 lb weight occasionally to check its accuracy and it works great!

Hi there! I'm a newbie here, but I couldn't resist this post. I had a Health-O-Meter digital scale and I want to tell you (and anyone else reading) that it is a piece of JUNK. Do not waste your money on this scale. It didn't work half the time, and when it did, the weights were always different, even weighing back-to-back times.
A friend or two recommended that I get a Taylor digital scale, and I love, love, LOVE it. I don't necessarily love the numbers I'm seeing right now, but I love the scale's accuracy. Because I'm slightly neurotic and had such a horrible experience with the Health-O-Meter, I tested this scale several times. The weight is always accurate. Also, the best part is that the scale only cost me $25 at Target!
