Snacking

So I usually eat 3 snacks per day sometimes just 2, but most days I do eat 3. Its either a meal bar or some pretzels or some animal crackers, but I find it helps me to not be as hungry at lunch time and I can control my portions better. I never used to agree with the eating 6 small meals a day, but it has truly worked for me. I usually eat at 7am, snack at 10am, lunch at noon, snack at 3pm and dinner at 6pm. I may have a snack before bed or maybe just a glass of wine, but I still manage to stay in my calorie range. I don't starve just to meet my calorie goals, but I do keep my goals in mind before I snack. Does anyone else have success with snacking?

  • If I could snack all day I would, but my meal pattern is like yours and it helps bc Im a greedy so n so. Breakfast 7.30, dinner 11, snacks when ever, tea at 5pm and supper later in the evening....

I do the same thing. I eat breakfast at 7:30am, snack at 10:30am, lunch at 1:30pm, snack at 4:30pm, and dinner at 7:30pm. If I have anything before bed it's usually a cup of skim milk with 2 tbsp of light chocolate syrup. I definitely think it helps control portions at your larger meals better and helps your metabolism. I also drink a gallon or more of water a day so that helps with portion control. As far as my "snacks" go though, they are more of a mini-meal. My morning snack isn't as much as my afternoon snack usually, but I'm working on evening them all out to around 300 calories each. I like my dinner to be a little more so that's kind of why my morning snack is less calories than the others. :)
Kudos to you for your weight loss and keeping on track with your eating habits!! :)

I prefer to snack in the same fashion that you do. In fact, I really started paying attention to my body and how my brain "feels" during the day. When I keep a little something on my stomach, I always have a better day. I notice I concentrate better, I have more energy, and I don't feel the need to binge at meal time.

I do something similar and it seems to work for me. I used to wait until around 9am to eat breakfast but now I start my day with protein powder in my coffee at 6am. Then I have some cereal around 8 or 9am and if I'm still hungry or if I'm going to the gym before lunch, I'll have some fruit or a snack bar. Lunch is around noon (usually a sandwich with some baked chips or veggies) followed by a snack of yogurt and fruit around 2 or 3pm. Dinner is sometime between 6 and 7pm.
