Weight gain problems

Its so hard to eat if if I'm not hungry..day 3 and I'm trying to stick to my 2500 a day calories..I force myself to eat throughout the day to maintain this but gezZz its so hard. I feel like its mind over matter..sad but true..? thoughts anyone

how did you come up with 2500cals/day? That seems pretty high unless you have some huge calorie burns thru exercise.0

Well the app worked it out for me..I guess with my current weight height and how active I am..what do you think..?0

I don't exercise as a routine but I live a busy active lifestyle through work etc..I've been told I have a fast metabolism0

Well, if you put all your info in correctly, I guess the number is correct. It just seems high, but then again, I don't know your stats.0

Its the first time I've ever done any program of this sort so I just found out what calories are..if I keep this up I will gain .5kg a week which for me will be a miracle. Here's hoping0

2500cal seem to be so high . You have to give other stats e.g what weight category do you fall into . I am 207 lbs and my caloric intake is 1300-1500 . This was calculated by my nutritionist.0

I don't have a nutritionist so I'm taking this Apps word for it..I've been to my doctor and he prescribed me Ensure which after completing 2 large runs..my weight had decreased by 2kg..I'm not going back as he never has been any help0

If you're exercising regularly 2500 is probably reasonable. I've never had the problem of needing to gain weight but I don't imagine it's always easy. Focus as much as possible on calorie dense foods. You can cram a lot of calories into milkshakes depending on what you add to them. Avocado and nuts are full of fats and have a lot of calories in a small portion too.0

If she's exercising and trying to gain weight, that's probably not unreasonable. But, if it's really hard to sustain, you might be able to get away with a slightly small surplus? You would only gain a little slower.0 -

Perhaps he meant Ensure in addition to your meals, instead of replacing them?

In reading the entire blog it sounds like you are trying to actually gain weight not loose or prepare for muscle gain as is the majority of people here so yes, 2500 calories sounds correct and is as hard to do as 1500 calories is for someone who has always had a hard time loosing weight. Ensure is a meal supplement which is good advice but the wrong product. Go to a nutrition store and ask for a 'weight gainer supement'. Drink 1 - 2 a day in between meals. It's a drink or smoothie (depending on how you prepare it) so it makes it easier to get in than another meal. Get one of the shake containers, carry it with you - add water and voilà; fast easy calories on the go! Know your struggles are the same as those trying to loose so we are all in the same kind of boat. Best of luck to you!0

OP, I feel what you are going through. I was seriously underweight for years and struggled to gain anything. I had next to nothing in body fat and my muscles were wasting away. I know how hard it is. I'm on my 85th day of using MFP to gain weight and I've gained 28lbs of my 42lb goal. I feel like I'm having force feed myself all the time. Try to stay consistent on when you eat, have breakfast, lunch and dinner at the right times. Your body will eventually get used to it. Before long your hunger cues will start to kick in at the right times. You won't see much of a difference over a few days, it takes time. Try weighing yourself every week so you see larger gains each time, I find it feels better that way. You can do it, just keep at it.0

Thank you The hardest part is keeping it going long enough to see it working but when you start to see your weight going up it will be soooo worth it Feel free to add me, I'll do my best to keep you on track0
