I am 38 years old and have been married for 18 wonderful years. We have a 17 year old daughter and a 5 month old son. I know right! That's a huge spread. We had Kaitlin when we were very young and life was just starting. We decided to have a second child now that we are more stable and financially able to give better care.
About two years ago I weighed 340lbs and I had lost almost 100lbs as of this January and had been maintaining my weight at +-5 lbs. However I have passed my 90lbs marker @254 as of this morning and getting nervous that if I don't do something about my weight now before it gets out of hand that I will blow up like a balloon again.
So in an attempt to get back on track before I am derailed last week we purchased a Bowflex Max Trainer M5. We received it on Wednesday of last week and agreed to start getting back on track the following Monday. We have been getting on the machine but not concentrating on the diet. And we know the two go hand in hand. But we had agreed that we should ease into a new plan and start the week on a new foot.
I am trying to go with a low carb diet (Modified Atkins) and spreading my meals out throughout the day. Along with taking a multivitamin. I know everyone hears low carb and cringes. I am hoping that responsibly following and modifying diet to meet my needs and keep within my net carb limits along with watching my caloric intake will work. I have never really done a low carb diet but I do know that breads and pastas go straight to my gut. But I love Italian food and bread. Which makes this diet a stretch for me. Keeping fingers crossed and going to give this a try.

I hope things work out for you. I know how hard it is to keep up with a little one and being overweight. Good for you that you are starting on it now before that little guy starts walking:-)0

Congratulations on the new addition to your family. I am doing low carb too. The first week or two was tough when your body goes into ketosis but once that happens you have a decreased appetite and more energy. You just can't cheat on this way of eating because it is very unforgiving. When I did cheat the few times that I did, I gained a lot of weight. (5 pounds on the weekends), and then it would take me almost a week to go back into ketosis and start losing again. I have not been cheating at all now for a month and won't cheat again. I work too hard to sabotage myself! There are quite a few fb pages for low carb eaters that provide support and recipes. You can do this! Best of luck to you!

We just bought the New Atkins book and have started reading a little each night. We skipped ahead to the induction diet so we could get started. I am hoping with diet and exercise I will get my weight loss back on track. From what I have read so far that the Atkins diet can work but you must see it through all four phases. For now I am just concentrating on phase 1 for 2 weeks then I will start to look at phase 2. Hopefully by then we will have gotten through the 5 chapters that we have skipped. lol0
