How well have people fared with yoga as a continuous workout? Just out of curiosity.

not to be a total PITA, but what do you mean by "continuous?" Are you trying to see if people think its a good calorie-burning workout? I believe it is more for strength and flexibility, but those are also nice to have :)

Yoga would be for fitness. For weight loss you need to be in a caloric deficit.

Yoga is great for flexibility and strength...not a big calorie burn. However, if struggle with emotional eating/anxiety, yoga is great for quieting the mind and bringing peace to yourself. It could definitely help.

Most importantly, you just need to eat an appropriate amount of food for your height/weight/age/activity level/gender to lose weight.

Many studies have linked yoga with weight loss. But I think it's benefits are from reducing stress (cortisol), helping you sleep better, making you aware of your body, and allowing freer movement (helps prevent injuries).

Yoga won't burn a whole lot of calories. But if you don't have a fitness regimen right now, adding yoga can help you establish one.

I use yoga as cross trainer to go with my running. The calorie burn from yoga is not a significant contributor to your calorie deficit.

I did a 30 straight days of JUST yoga (not a lot of cardio, etc.) without keeping track of any calories I ate.
Despite not trying to maintain a calorie deficit, I did see quite a bit of toning (esp. in the stomach & upper arms) and lost a bit of body fat.
Yoga + some cardio + healthy eating is likely enough to help you use some weight, although it will likely take longer than a different regimen
