Those elevated lab numbers could be caused by a number of things. Your doctor can run more tests.

I've had some non-cancerous trouble with my liver. It pisses me off, working against me. The best and smartest thing to do is to see the doctors and specialists. Ask them your questions. Follow their instructions.

Don't play around with your health.

It can be a very dangerous disease. If you drink alcohol, stop. If you are overweight, lose weight. Exercise.

Fatty liver disease is reversible if it has not reached the level to cause cirrhosis (this is not solely caused by drinking). See your doctor and listen to them.

There's a lot of range with fatty liver. A lot of people have fatty livers and many get all better. They are usually (generally) advised to quit drinking and smoking (if they do that), eat healthy (if they don't) and lose some weight (if they're overweight.) Whatever they tell you, do that! I don't care who says what here or at work or if your cousin's husband got different advice. If you need a second opinion, get it from another doctor. If you do what any old yahoo says, they can kill you.

Many people have it and don't even know it. It's good to know. Always better to know than not know! You can take action and do the things that will make you healthier or at least not get worse. :)

Get a referral to a dietitian and hang on to her card. You'll probably have questions even after you see her.

    Good luck. :)

I did once when I was eating a lot of Ben & Jerrys (like a pint a day--please don't judge me. Those were different times. lol) and also splitting a bottle of red wine every Friday and Saturday with my husband while eating fatty hors d'ouvres out of the oven. We were trying to create a romantic "bistro night" that became "bistro weekend" for a couple of months and, man, we both got it. He got high cholesterol, and I got the liver enzymes.

I started getting little pangs from my liver every so often and my digestion was awful. I went to the doctor and she found that my liver enzymes were up.

Bistro weekend stopped and I broke up with B&Js immediately, opting instead to drink lemon juice in water in the mornings, add two vegetables and one fruit to my daily diet, and exercise to an aerobics video daily. 1.5 months later my follow-up test was normal and has been ever since.

Good luck to you! Hope everything works out.
