Endometriosis?

I've been recently diagnosed with endometriosis and I'm currently on a medication called Visanne.
Besides exercising, I was recommended a "healthy diet"; however I've found many books who mention going vegan or gluten free to ease the pain.
Honestly I'm not sure if they are real or they are just jumping on the "clean" wagon.
Any help or material you can provide will be great.

It's true; a well-balanced nourishing variable diet and regular exercise keeps your menstruation much more regular and manageable. I was diagnosed over 10 years ago.
Listen to your body and how it responds to current foods before deciding on a restrictive diet. Do you feel unwell after eating red meat, bread, pasta, etc?
If so, trial the diet for about a month or so and check your body again. Do you feel better? Or do you have cravings?
Then slowly change and adapt your diet to your body's needs. This is a very long process.
I have learned about my body and management of endo that:
- I feel better if I have regular warm meals
- I feel sick if I eat red meat more than once/twice per week
- I crave fish, nuts, fruits and vegetables if I don't eat enough during the week
- I have to exercise everyday
- I have to avoid sugar/salt overloads from junk food and beverages including alcohol ; my worst periods occur then.
Search for articles written by physicians/nutritionists who specialise in endometriosis; everything else take with a grain of a salt. Your body is unique and will have unique needs.
All the best to you.0 -
When I was diagnosed with endometriosis, the fashionable thing was going dairy free. It didn't do a thing for me. I took Yasmin, which, like Visanne, contains an anti-androgenic synthetic progestin, and it worked very well for me.0
