Is there anyone here from Louisiana that is in to backpacking/hiking on weekends for a good workout?

    I am from Louisiana living in Lafayette. Everywhere around us is pretty much flat. So not really great hiking in the southern part, but the fishing is good.

    I'm in Alexandria and there's lots of trails in the Kistachie forest my wife and I hike.

    I lived in Alexandria for nine months. Yep anything north of Alexandria is good hiking.

    Yes we've hiked a couple of them. The last one we did was Kincade Lake loop trail, it was 10 miles. My German shepherd and I will be doing the whole Wild Azalia Trail this fall....32 miles. But there are several beautiful trails in the forest.

    I-10 is about the only trail, but I think they arrest you if you walk on it.

    Alexandria isn't that far Ajirvin, there are some beautiful trails here in the Kistachie forest.
