Haha, ouch. It's not the time, it's the over-concern with calories. I have the time, it's just causing stress in my life.0 -
Whoa. No way. Haha dang I work out 6 hours a week, no wonder I'm so goddamn hungry. I've just been eating 1,290 because that's what MFP had me set for.
Thank you so much - as a compromise to gaining these new daily calories, I'm going to start prelogging and eating better foods!
Thanks for writing all that out to all of you and S/O to the haters for being my motivators0 -

I have found that for the past few weeks I've been using MFP, my daily recordings have turned into near obsession. I am constantly thinking about eating, not because I'm bored or addicted to food, but because restriction has become such an important part of my life! How do I maintain control of my calories without freaking out and bingeing?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love MFP but it's taking over my life.
These two bits of information are indicative of someone who is over-restricting their calorie intake. How many calories are you eating? If you are constantly thinking about food and feel restricted then my immediate thought would be that you're not eating enough.
Great point, I did find when I slowed my target weight loss from 2lbs a week to 1.5lbs those extra 200 calories made a big difference, gave me a greater level of comfort.

OP, yeah, eat more.
But also, I'm 2.5 years into MFP, pretty much at maintenance, and I still think about food all the time. Because I love food. Before I lost, I was also thinking about food all the time, it just often went from thinking to eating in pretty much 30 seconds. Now I eat less, so I have more time to think about it... If it makes sense.
MFP is just a tool to keep my diet in check. I don't think the obsession with food is ever going to go away, as food has been on my mind pretty much all the time for 30 years. The difference is that now I think about what my next meal will be and use that to preplan meals, instead of just thinking 'oh I want that' and go to the kitchen. And I think more about my next meal of grilled chicken and ratatouille than going to McDonald's to try their new burger. So in a way, there's improvement (although my main issue has always been sweets).
But again, we all have different relationships with food. Mine isn't the healthiest, so I just have to work with that.0 -

If you're constantly thinking about food, are you eating enough?
Can you open your diary, and/or tell us your height/weight/calorie limit?
Could be eating enough, it's like when a lot of us quit smoking for along time i would even dream of having a smoke. It took a year before it all settled but now after 2 half years i still think about it every once in awhile. You just have to except your new life style.0 -
I know a lot of people have said this, but prelogging your food for the day is very helpful. I usually do this the night before.0
