Feeling very frustrated and bummed. Things have been going so well. I've been tracking for 30 days now (give or take some cause I'm not as good about it on weekends) and I'm down roughly 14 lbs. Although I'm not sure how accurate that is because I can't remember what I weighed before i started. I hopped on the scale last night thinking how good things have been going... and up almost 3 lbs since last week. Already frustrated because I can't see the results or feel them in my clothes so that weight gain is just devestating. I have a long way to go and I know no matter how much I want it to their won't be instant gratification. But this is exactly the type of stuff that happens to me and then I give up completely :-( tired of failing. Sorry just needed to vent :-)

You mentioned that you weren't so good on the weekends.... I struggle with that as well.
I do realize with that downfall that my weight loss won't be very successful.
Are you eating a lot lower than your calorie goal? I have had friends who did so well after a few weeks and then it went in reverse. She figured out it was because she was eating so far below her goal that her body started hoarding lbs. Crazy!

Just keep tracking each day. Watch for salt content. Remember that each step makes a difference. You will look back on this and realize it was just a blip on the radar :)

I have been leaving alot of my exercise calories and some days more left over. Been then using the when I want a treat :-) so that could possibly be what is happening. I know alot of it is self destructive behavior and having zero patience too. Thank you for the tip about eating under your goal though! Definitely something I will look into. I have to admit some days I have problems eating all my calories which is weird. But I have never been a big eater I just choose the really wrong things. I think I eat more now than I did before! :-)

Could just be water retention. Monitor it for another week and adjust your calories accordingly

If you're tired of failing, don't give up :) Bad days, weeks, even months will happen. My weight fluctuates between 5-10lbs weekly but I'm still slowly losing inches over the months. If you keep correctly logging you haveto see results, it would be impossible not to. No point in going back to your old habits if you already know what will work - I know it would make me feel guilty. 30 days is too seen to see real results anyways. Patience and trust in the process is so important.

If you're eating too much on the weekends you could easily be erasing your calorie deficit for the rest of the week. Log everything you're eating that has calories, every day. Even if it makes you unhappy to see what you've eaten if you aren't tracking it you have no idea if you're eating little enough to lose weight.

Once you have your logging in place, you can then judge if you're really eating less calories than you're burning every day. Because if you aren't, you're not going to lose weight.

I'm sorry you're bummed. I agree with a good amount of the other comments posted thus far so instead of repeating them, here's a little different twist. Instead of curtting and pasting what I wrote, though, I'll just link the url...might as well save work, right? myfitnesspal.com/blog/jzalisa/view/worst-case-scenario-759086

But either way, good luck to you, hang in there, hone in on any mistakes you're making, correct 'em, and then wait for the good results to roll in.

hey - I'm crap with weekends too! But I figure if for 5 days I'm good then having the odd take-away on a weekend and eating at maintenance (not major super bingeing - only sometimes!) it's not soooo bad. Slow my loss down? probably. But I like food and I like eating. so yeah. :)

Hang in there and keep going!!!!

Thanks everyone for your replies :-) I know I'm not the only one going through these ups and downs but it is always nice to hear some validation of it. Today has definitely been a better day
