Keep falling off the wagon

I do well in the morning and lunch then fall off the wagon in the afternoon/evening. I'm still logging everything including all the indescretions - hoping that the logging habit at least is a start. How does everyone stay on the wagon/not eat badly at night? I have two young kids so I can't get rid of all the temptations.

That's hard. Probably best to be realistic and save some calories for late night indiscretions. It will also help to pre-plan some things so you don't go over on calories.0

Just move from the end of the wagon to the middle. Problem solved.0

I pre log for the next day when I am packing my lunch for work. I have been having sugar free dark chocolate pudding at night. It's only 60 calories and it can be satisfying.0

Hi, can I suggest read "wheat belly" by Dr William Davis. I have given up on wheat and its as if a magic wand has been waved. Suddenly, I don't have any junk food cravings and feel satiated and happy. No anxiety and no bloating and excessive hunger and cravings!
I have given it up completely and have used subsitute wheat free products (there is also the Wheat Belly cookbook which shows how to cook cakes and breads with other things).
I spent 20 years "falling off the wagon" over and over and over.... now I simply feel released... thank god for this book and dr William Davis. PLEASE read up on this or give up wheat and see how easy calorie counting becomes! no cravings, no hunger, clear thinking, better sleep, calmer, happier less depression. These are the benefits I have been enjoying.0 -
Also, are you bored or watching TV. We never eat in front of the TV. You never realize how much you consume or I eat it too fast.0

I began making my own meals ahead of time that were high in fiber and protein, now I feel full all the time.0

PS I went to the movies last night with my children and didn't eat any popcorn! or allowed myself some maltesers chocolates and took a bag of cherries. I was AMAZED as previously on a wheat eating day, I would be a mess. I would have had the popcorn, ice cream, sweets AND chocolates. What a revelation. I was eating 3,000 calories a day.
Now I am easily managing 1,700. I still allow chocolate, and my favourites but wheat free versions and I am happy with just the one or two.0 -
I find pre-planning and pre-logging helps a lot. Knowing what you'll be eating, and what, if any you have left over for an extra snack in the evening makes all the difference. You don't need to subscribe to fad dieting, just eat the things you love in moderation. Good luck0

Yes - eating in front of the TV at night. Mindless eating. I'm going to try the sugar free pudding that sounds good.
I've tried low carb/no wheat twice (and Dr. B diet) in the past and done well but fallen back into the "just a slice of toast... Then another... Or just a cou0 -
ple crackers... Sigh.0

Go back to your goal...the reason why you started this journey. Plan your meals ahead. Depending on how active you are, up your protein intake. Know how much your daily caloric intake. I know its hard to resist those junk foods, have some, don't deprive yourself of what your body is craving but do it moderately. Be mindful...and don't go way over your daily caloric intake nor way less than -. Up your water intake, sometimes this little thing helps a lot from cravings0

Ok. These may be crazy tips but the really work for me. Tip 1. Right after dinner brush your teeth. This will help with the dessert craving. Tip 2. Paint your nails. Can't eat when your nails are wet. I do this if the family is going to be watching a movie and snacking. Tip 3. Buy good dark chocolate and freeze it. When you are truly craving break off one square. It is amazing how that one square slowly melting in your mouth will really satisfy. There is something in dark chocolate that stimulates the same brain release as really good sex. Very satisfying.0
