Hello, I am located in the UK. I have been noticing my health deteriorate for a while now and I have been too lazy to start to turn it around.
So I got a new phone and I was messing around in S health with the heart rate monitor and the blood oxygen levels, etc. I found it pretty cool that you could log it over time and keep track. So I went straight to the Google Play Store and searched for apps to compliment S health and I found this!
I found the fact that you could log your food so easily very appealing. Not only did the apop know exactly which brand product I searched for, the scanning feature made it even more easy. I thought I'd log my calories in a normal day and at the end, I was speechless. I never knew how to calorie count but this app is starting to teach me new things. My lunch for example, was an AW root beer can, a 400g bag off carrots and asda humus as a dip. Sounds pretty good, right? But turns out it was 1000 calories alone in one sitting. Aparently a single serving of that hummus was a little over a tablespoon. I never paid attention to serving sizes before but from now on, I will. I wish food packages had the total calories in that container as opposed to a serving size which could be a small fraction of an already small package.
On the second day, with the help of the app, I was under the calorie limit and with the ease of the app and no pressure to exercise, I feel like I can keep this up for a long time. I have tried turning my life around a couple of times, but I burn out after 2 weeks and start to get lazy after not noticing results. My biggest weakness is on the diet side and the myfitnesspal app is really helping me keep a track on things for the first time in my life.
TL;DR Got new phone, tried out app, very easy to keep track, learning new things about diet I have never known, turning life around.

Congrats, and good luck! I've lost 39lbs exactly, as of today... So close to 40lbs off.. SO CLOSE...
Some advice;
1) Weigh your food! Don't just enter the portion sizes it suggests, WEIGH your food! Or this could happen to yooouuu.
2) Shirataki noodles are little to no calories and are great as a side dish [such as plain w/ pad thai sauce], or as a feature of a main meal [I use them as ramen!]... You get loads more ingredients for the same amount of calories 'cause of these noodles, in recipes!
3) Even if you have a bad day, no biggie! Just take it a day at a time. We all have days where we were like, "OH GOD, I ATE ALL THE THINGS". Don't let it stop you from losing in the long run!0 -
Thanks for the tips . My calorie goal after the 1st two days changed automatically from 1500 to 1350 strangely. Is the normal?0

thank you for your reddit-style summary at the bottom.
I also recently discovered the app - it's made me super excited about the weight I've lost and will lose because it keeps me on track. Good luck!0 -

You only recently got it and you already lost weight? Nice! Last time I started working out (feb) I cut portion sizes, and worked out every single day. Compared to sitting on my *kitten* all day, it was quite a change. I gave up after 3 weeks of not losing any weight. I guess I wasn't counting calories so this time I'm focusing more on diet than exercise and this tool makes it a lot easier!0 -

The less you weigh, the less you need to eat. Did you change your goals? Mine used to drop about 50-60 calories for every 10 pounds lost. 150 seems a bit much to drop all at once. How much did you tell it that you wanted to lose and how much weight total do you want to lose?
I've only been doing it for 4 days now.i didn't update my weight when it changed the goals0 -

I know the health kit in my iPhone will adjust my daily goals (if I let it) based on how active I am that day. Many people use Fitbits just for that reason.
You can do that? Problem with that is, s health thinks I walked 400 steps even though I only picked it up and played some games lol0
