hi all

im feeling a bit confused and disheartened after gaining a kg a week for the last two weeks.

im a 24 year old female and ive been stickingto my 1200 calcalories per day goal. last week I averaged 128 under my goal.

I have also been trying to eat nutritious calories as I know not all calories are equal.

I have been doing moderate excercise for about an hour three times a week and on most days ive been doing a 5 minute strength workout as I wake up. I have not been using weights and I am sure that I have not gained any muscle mass.

I dont weigh my food and I have read that we can overestimate our intake so as a buffer I haven't added any additional excercise calories to my daily intake.

any help and support would be great. I know weight loss isn't linear but working hard and gaining weight can be very demotivating.

thanks guys :)

You need to weigh your food. Not logging your exercise may not be providing the buffer you think it is. And if you're eating 1200 you really need to be accurate. Remember that you don't need to eat under your calorie allowance, the deficit is built in already.

Weight fluctuations can also be related to sodium intake, hormones etc. So don't get discouraged. Get an electronic food scale and really start accurately logging your food.

Start weighing your food. You also should be aiming for 1200 every day.

Start with the food scale. You can get a nice digital one pretty cheap. I would almost put money down that you are eating more than you think.

And fwiw, a calorie is a unit of measurement so a calorie is a calorie just as a foot is a foot or a pound is a pound. The macro spreads that come with different foods are different and people will choose different foods to suit their needs.

How close are you to your goal? If you only have a few pounds to lose it may be more difficult. Hang in there and don't be discouraged.
