Hello everyone
I've just inputted my first food diary and exercise. I did Cardio Power & Resistance this morning but don't know how many calories I burnt so put it down as 200. Does anyone else do Insanity so could tell roughly how many calories per workout? Or must I buy one of those monitors? If yeah, which one? But for now, can someone roughly tell me how many calories per workout? I've got Plyometric Cardio Circuit on the calendar tomorrow. Thank you.

Need to know height/weight to remotely guestimate calories. Even then can be way off. Best bet is to get a HRM. Any will do to get a general idea of HR. Chest straps are more reliable. I have a Wahoo TickrX and really like it but that's on the pricier end of HRMs. If you don't want a HRM, get good at taking a pulse for 15 sec every couple minutes of your workout to make sure your HR is staying in the zone.0

You can go the HRM route but understand it will only be a ballpark estimation and could be up to 25% inaccurate when used for stuff like circuits and HIIT. When I first started I used an HRM for T25 and Insanity and my HRM was giving me considerably less calorie burned numbers then all the online calculators and MFP was. Typically for me a 45 minute Insanity vid would burn 450-500 cals on the HRM and I'd eat back about 60% and I was losing weight just fine doing that. Eventually someone suggested the TDEE method and I found that to be much easier. No guess work on cals burned that way, much less room for error so I ditched the HRM.0

200 is probably a good number to go with0

Thank you everybody. Much appreciated.0

Depends on your stats, but I burnt 300 to 400 cals for month 1 workouts0

If heart rate monitors are anywhere close to accurate, mine says that I burn anywhere between 300 - 400 for most of the Month 1 workouts, and 400 or 500+ for the Month 2 workouts (most of Month 2 workouts are a bit longer).
My stats are 5'6", 190 pounds if you need any comparison.
Yes, I understand that HRM's are not the end all, be all of calorie burning calculations, but they do provide a good ballpark estimate.0 -
For an HRM, subtract 20-30% to account for all the breaks and the two stretching sessions. It's going to register an elevated heart rate as a burn even though you're not moving.0

Thanks everybody. To be honest I thought I burnt more than 200 (also registered 200 today for doing Plyometric Cardio Circuit) but didn't want to eat too much back in case I didn't. I think it's also detrimental if I don't eat enough back. Catch 220
