Why did I have to eat that crust?

I have been working on my weight now for 2 months, and I am 20 pounds down...yeah me (about 100 to go). One of the problems I continually encounter is eating things before I even think about it. I plan out my meals and I know what I am supposed to eat, but end up eating something added. For example, tonight we had a big salad and my husband brought home one slice of pizza each for every member of the family. This was great because there is no opportunity for me to eat the rest later. I put all my calories in mfp, and enjoyed my dinner. Just as we were cleaning up, I ate my daughter's pizza crust. Why? I totally didn't need it. Once I ate it (about 30 seconds) I immediately regretted it- of course it was too late. I just have to figure out a way to not do things like this...my continual struggle.

I do stuff like this all the time - like eating out of the pot when I've just put food on my plate, eating cereal from the box on my way past the cupboard, etc. I've found that only allowing myself to eat something if I've weighed it, considered the calories and put it on a plate helps me to keep to my goals

I do the same thing. I wish I had some advice to offer, but I just wanted to say hang in there!0

I have resorted to squirting washing up liquid over other people's yummy looking leftovers, just so I can't pinch any! :blushing:0

Isn't it strange though? My mother hates pizza crust and even if I am absolutely full on my own bit, I'll take her crust...like...wtf? and then I'll be like wow...those extra carbs....totally gonna feel that on the scale tomorrow.0

I think it's all about habits. We often do things like this without thinking.
The good thing is that you are becoming more aware of these bad habits which is the first step to changing them.
I'll bet next time you go to eat that crust you will remember that it's a bad habit and you don't need it.
If it's hard to remember, ask your husband or daughter to remind you.0 -
thanks for the encouragement everyone!0

It is SO hard. It is a habit for me. When I am feeding the kids I snack on their food or leftovers. I am having them put their food in the sink and run it under the water and also I am trying to eat something while I feed them (greek yogurt and fruit or something like that) to keep my mouth busy. I wonder if chewing gum would work. You are not alone and part of it for me at least is just to break a habit.0
