Hello, My name is Angel, I am 28 years old. I am not new to this trying to lose weight thing but I am new to seeking support. I am 5ft 7in and I weight 279 lbs. I feel disgust about myself. I also want to be healthy for my children and husband. I am pretty sure I am addicted to food. I want to lose weight and get healthy so bad but I just can't seem to stop eating!! Anyone else feel the same or has overcome this? Success stories and tips? Thanks! !

I absolutely feel the same way. I know I eat for emotional reasons and that's part of the reason it feels so much like an addiction. I notice the busier I keep myself the easier it is to stay on track due to less bored eating going on. I do meal prep so I have no excuses to eat out all week and I have a personal trainer to help keep me accountable which has been the key for me and way worth the money. Also working out helps me to feel more like eating healthy in order not to waste what I have done. It's still a struggle everyday but you take it one day at a time and remember to be consious about decisions you make daily. If your a reader the slight edge is a great read and very inspirational to me in this. I still struggle a lot but feel I have grown a lot in my awareness of my issues which is a great first step. Good luck to you and stay positive and motivated and do your best!0

Hi,I myself struggle with food, and this is not my first attempt either, it's so easy to just fall back into old habits, this time around I have a real goal, and I am starting with small changes to help in the long run.do you have a goal in mind?0

Hi feel free to add. I'm a food addict too. I'm discovering ways to manage stress and emotions in other ways besides eating. I'm re-committing to daily tracking. I'm convinced that's going to help on this journey0

My ultimate goal is to weigh 165lbs in one year. I just want to be healthier. My short term goal is to lose 8- 10 lbs per month0

That's too aggressive & unhealthy, you'll be depriving yourself so much; that you'll be likely to binge & thus will reverse any progress you make. Aim for a maximum of 2 pounds per week of weight loss, if you have over 50 Pounds to lose & a maximum of 1 Pound per week, when you have less than 50 Pounds to lose. I know that it'll take much longer to lose the weight, the healthy way but isn't being healthy; a reason why you're attempting to lose weight? It usually takes twice as long to lose the weight, than it took to gain it. There's no such thing as a quick & sustainable combination fix. Slow & steady, wins the race.0 -

You've made the fist step. Thehardest thing you'll do is keep motivated.
The bad news is yes, you appear to be addicted to food. Food addiction (unlike nicotine, alcohol or heroin) is primarily psychological. That doesn't mean it's any less of a problem, it is very real.
The good news is you can cure it by therapy, will power and positivity. If you feel down and depressed about it, talk to your doctor first. A lot of people over eat because of trauma and we all need a little help from time to time.
Read the success stories here as they might help along the way. Best of luck on your journey.

8-10 lbs per month is about 2 lbs per week! Do you guys think I would benefit from a therapist?0
