some day martial artists

Hi, I've used the app for 3 weeks and lost 2 pounds.
Keen to chat with anyone else working on fitness for sports. I do TaeKwon Do and run when possible but not always sure how to prepare nutritionally for sparring and high energy activities.

Anyway, really hope to hear from you. Motivating software ain't it!

I do Muay Thai, four to six days per week with at least one hour-long sparring session each week.

I've adjusted my calorie intake (on the advice of a friend that is a sports nutritionist) to take in as many as 200 cal about one hour prior to a workout. I find it helps me avoid that fatigued, shaky feeling in my legs - y'know, when you kinda feel "empty,' like you have no 'pop" left? I've been using a half-scoop of GNC Amplified Endurance Booster (I receive no compensation from GNC, not an ad!) and I'm satisfied with the way it's working out. On days when I don't have that available, I'll eat an apple and a tablespoon of honey... same effect. I've also used Clif's Builder's bars (also not an ad) on occassion, but sometimes they feel kinda heavy in my gut when I'm working... I'd rather not be burping all over my sparring partners.

I list whatever I take in as part of training or working out in my log as part of my closest meal... usually dinner or snacks. I don't give myself a pass on the calories just because I'm pre-fueling a workout - that would defeat the weightloss purpose of MFP.

    Good luck!

Excellent advice, thank you! I know exactly that feeling when working out but less so lately as this software helps me to fuel up without feeling like I'm overdoing it before a session. Brilliant tips there. I'm wary of specialist foods but will try the apple and honey next time. Your 1 hour sparring sounds extremely intense, especially considering the style of martial art you do. Great to meet you!
