Hello Everyone,
Just a little history on my roller coaster health issues why I joined MyfitnessPal. In the past 6 years my life style changed to being very active to sedentary. I was a search and rescue k-9 team. When my partner passed away. I pretty much came to dead halt on getting out and walking 4-5 miles a day. Well last year I was diagnosed diabetic (borderline). Doctor handed me the metformin and told me to get more active. Well I was not aware that there was more to being diabetic. Life got hectic and my diabetes went to the back. Well I was starting to get boils, sever yeast infections and blood pressure was 170/130. I am now on metformin and high blood pressure meds. I was not responsible with my health. I kept telling myself instead of 2 teaspoons sugar I will do one. Instead of 10 candy bars a day I will do only 5.(Little candy bars). I am now attempting to save my own life. How I got on myfitnesspal is because my roommate is a member she lost 30 lbs. in 4 months with the guidance of the community and using this site daily to track her intake.
I hope to make a lot of friends and a support group to make sure on stay on the right path.

I am a huge pasta eater. Premade foods is all about pasta. Trying to change my eating habits is the hardest.

I had a blood sugar spike of 455. My doctor called me at work and told me to report to the ER for treatment NOW because she was afraid I would go into a coma. So I dropped by 3 20 ounces pepsis, chocolate, chip and pastry habit cold turkey. I eat steel cut oatmeal 2 sugarless peanut butter for breakfast, 1 pound of raw vegetables for lunch, and a beef, salmon or turkey burger with mayo and a bit of blue cheese and vegetable soup for dinner. I eat NO PROCESSED FOOD because 77% of it has added sugar or will turn to sugar shortly after you eat it. I walk 6 miles and climb 8 stairs daily. I also did some high intensity interval workouts and calinthenics but intend to alternate them EVERY I mean every night from now on. I have not exceeded calories or carbohydrates once, but am over on sodium but working it. Because I was eating so nutritiously, my toxic hunger went away in 17 days, and I started leaving salad, burger and soup for my next meal. I lost 8.5 pounds in 24 days. I look like I lost 20 because it was all fat. I can pull my pants off without unbuttoning them, and started unpacking smaller sized clothing this weekend. HORRAY! It will feel SO GOOD to loose all of my fat, donate my fat clothes and go into diabetic remission and not have to take drugs or test my blood for sugar!

    Welcome to MFP!

What kind of high blood pressure med are you on? I took triameterene hydrochlorathazide (sps?) and within 5 days it shot my blood sugar up and was having diabetes like symptoms. It also did nothing for the HBP. You're under a doctor's care and I'm assuming getting regular blood tests, but thought I'd share my story in case its similar to you.

My diary is open if you want some food ideas. The candy bars should be the first thing to drastically cut back. There is little to no nutrition in those. Kind Bars, and Kashi granola bars are a nice substitute. Time for real food.

you can do this one step at a time. Look at others diaries and believe in yourself and this community. Be honest. Put everything down even if it is horrible food and over calories. That is how u learn.Good Luck!

Hello. I'm new to this app and need encouragement and I want to motivate others. It seems I always start something and then stop. But I am serious this time. I've had 2 heart attacks (no stints) thank God but my sugar is ridiculous and it is time to take charge. I believe I will enjoy reading your posts...WE CAN DO THIS!
