i took a pretty vigorous spinning class this morning and forgot my HRM. What's the best way to log a spinning class on MFP?

Is this your first spinning class or do you have previous info from your HRM?

It's not My first sc, but I've never worn an HRM to one before. Only my Fitbit zip.

Well then it would depend on many things. Your age, height, current weight and how hard you worked. MFP calorie burns are overstated sometimes as well as HRM calorie burns. I would go with 50% to 75% in MFP database or your HRM.

For me, I generally about burn about 400 to 500 calories per class and I am maintaining my weight so I think my burns are correct. But all these numbers are just estimates. Good food tracking is more important. Weight loss is done in the kitchen and exercise is for fitness.

MFP said 507 calories for the 50 min class when I logged it under stationary bike moderate effort. Guessing it's pretty spot on, because my HR was pretty high the entire time. Seemed To carry 60-70% of max the entire 50 mins. I'll stick with that estimate and just remember my HRM next time. lol

I'll be taking the same spin class again in a few days so I'll see what my HRM says. I bet it's close to what MFP says. My garmin has never steered me wrong!
