Hi everyone - I'm a newbie!

I just joined a couple of days ago and so far, I LOVE this site. I'm tracking my food and exercise and I really enjoy reading in the message board. Everyone seems really supportive and friendly. I was an elementary teacher for 15 years and never had to worry about weight. When I left the classroom and took an administrative position at the district, I packed on the pounds. Now I'm ready to lose 20 pounds and hopefully get back to my old self. Petrushka is a nickname my uncle gave me when I was little - my "real" name is Pati!

    Welcome to MFP! I believe you will love this site as well as the rest of us do. So join in the threads and get started!! Drink plenty of water and get your exercise in and stick with your calories and you will be on your way!!

    I'll bet you're right, there must be loads of newbies because of New Year's resolutions!
    A big huge welcome to the New Year "Newbies"!
    Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
    I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off!
    Also, drink lots of water, that seems to help alot too. :drinker:
  • Thank you all! The food counter is definitely an eye-opener. I am really trying to drink more water...thank goodness for Crystal Light! :)
