So my wrist has broken out where my fitbit was.
Anyone else have this problem?

Happened with the Surge and Force, I can imagine it's not too uncommon to happen with the Charge, too.0 -
I haven't had that problem yet, but I make sure to take it off and clean it after I get sweaty, and to keep the skin underneath dry. Also, I'll move it around throughout the day so it's not always sitting in the exact same spot. Maybe try moving it a bit more?0

One of my FB friends sure did. She posted a picture. Ouch!0

I started to get one at first, but then I found out that I was wearing it to tight. I took it off until the rash cleared up, and it cleared within a couple days. I now where it very loose on my wrist (slightly annoying) and put it up tighter on my wrist when I work out.0

Yeah, I took it off all day today and the rash is clearing up. Gonna be more careful about washing and drying out after exercise.
I think I'm gonna start taking it off at night. The sleep tracking is a waste of time anyway IMHO.0 -
Are you allergic to nickel? The plates on bodymedia bands and fitbit bands that touch your skin are made with nickel. Have you ever had a rash from costume jewelry? If so, that is likely the culprit.0

I wore it for a month with no issue, so I doubt it.
Never worn much costume jewelry, being a guy and all.
I think I just had it too tight and got sweaty.0 -

Allergies can happen out of nowhere. and the longer you expose yourself to the allergen, the worse they get. If I were you, I would take the band off and see your doctor before putting it back on. You really want to make sure it is not a reaction.0 -
It may be too tight and then the moisture from working out gets trapped between your band and your wrist. That was an issue with some people who had the flex.0

The main area that broke out was behind the face, on the opposite side of my arm. The area around the buckle is fine.0 -
I actually read an article about this very topic. People with those fit bits getting rashes. The company just says you're probably wearing it too tight and to make it looser. That seems like too easy of a fix. Good luck. My husband has one and he doesn't have any issues with a rash.0

I've read a lot about people getting rashes from their FitBit, but I've been wearing mine for over a month and have had no issues.0

My wrist does where my surge was on my left hand. Definitely not a metal allergy since it's both sides of my wrist where the rubber touched (no metal there).
I think I was wearing it too tight though. I've switched wrists and I'm wearing it a lot looser now. We shall see if it happens again. If it does then I'm going to contact fitbit, because I must be allergic to something in the band.0 -
Your having an allergic reaction to the metal back plate (I read a story about it online a while ago, about some folk not being about to wear fitbits due to reactions to the backing plate.) I used to put clear nail polish on the back of my cheap watches to stop it from happening, but you have to re coat it, every now and then as the polish will wear off.0
-
Sounds like you're having an allergic reaction to it.0

I have a rash on the underside of my wrist where the band meets the buckle.
I switched wrists before going to bed and woke up with this after about 6 hours on the new wrist.

Mine irritates me in exactly the same place but only occasionally! Weird!0 -
I have the flex and had a rash definitely caused by wearing it too tight. Since loosening it I haven't had a problem0

My daughter got a rash from her Fitbit Charge HR. She is going to loosen it and see what happens. Hopefully, that will be the fix and she can continue to use it. If nickel is an issue with these devices, I probably will not be able to use one.0

I have an awful rash and my skin is even pealing due to it! I am seriously thinking of returning my Charge HR and I am so disappointed because I really like the features. :-(

Update: I haven't had any issues since the rash in February. I don't wear it tight anymore (it can slide up and down my wrist a bit) and I make sure to clean the band after every workout. Right after the rash I rubbed down the band with rubbing alcohol every other day for awhile, but now I only do that every 2 weeks.
So definitely make sure the band is clean and you aren't wearing it too tight.0 -
I get a rash from my belt buckle if I don't tuck in my shirt. I have had several watches that irritated my wrist. The Fitbit Charge HR doesn't cause me any trouble at all.
Edited to add: My wrists are tiny - I have a small. I have to wear it tight enough that it leaves a dent where the HR sensor digs into my wrist or risk having the whole watch try to rotate around my wrist. The rotation of the hard length of the device itself bruises my wrist. Even at this level of snugness, neither plastic nor metal irritates my wrist.

The manual with the HR says not to wear it if your skin reacts to it, you likely have an allergy to the material.0

I've never gotten a rash from wearing mine, but I have noticed that the area where I normally wear it will get really itchy if I forget to put lotion on it for a couple of days. Now, I just rub the area with a little sweet almond oil after I come out of the bath, which cleared the problem right up.0

Yes, this rash problem with Fitbit Charge HR is for real and it causes pretty bad rash. This snapshot of my arm was taken after 2 days of healing. It looked scary when it happenned.

I got a small one under the face part. Started cleaning it after workouts and making sure my wrist was dry. Moisture is what is causing it and if it's not by the Buckle its most likely not a nickel allergy. Just don't wear it so tight and keep it clean. Imagine we wash our faces and our jewelry but think that a band, that we wear while working out is going to be different.0
-
I've had a reaction to mine as well but only if I wear it tightly. I make sure I now clean it regularly and wear it loose. I also try to switch wrists every week. I've had no problems since.
To all the people saying it's a metal allergy the rash is happening where the CE mark is in the plastic. Not near the metal bit at all.0 -

Hey,
Random, but do you have food allergies or any other type of allergies???? Upset stomach, congested nose, musculoskeletal pain?
I have noticed that the little spot only flares up when I am having other type of inflammation. {allergies}
I wear my Fitbit super loose, so it being super tight was really not the issue.
Just a thought!

I have the rash underneath the band and it stops where the sensor is. The rash calms down if I clean the band with alcohol 3 times daily (morning, after workout, night). I wonder if it is an allergy to the band, or maybe sweat irritates the skin?0
