Doing it alone is SO hard!

Uncle Sam says I need to lose 20-25 pounds in the next month and a half. I know that I can do it as I have lost 30 pounds in that time frame before. It is just so hard to get motivated to run or work out all by myself :( This is going to be the longest month and a half of my life. I am absolutely dreading it. That's all...

  • Thats why I love MFP. I have always felt alone because I am one of the few in my house that struggles with weight. My husband is an awesome support but he also loses weight if he just thinks about it. I have been so encouraged on the website and no longer feel alone. You can do it just talk it out when it gets hard. Good luck.

Welcome and Good Luck towards your goal. You should find lots of encouragement on the site. Out of curiosity (if you don't mind me asking), how were you able to do it before? Regardless, keep focused on your goal and good luck to you :)

you are not alone!! you have everyone here on MFP!
  • It is REALLY hard. I know. My husband has no interest in losing weight or getting fit and even though he gently supports me in my goals, there's no one for me to lose weight with.

MFP seems to be a great community. I'm still new but hopefully it'll be the supportive element we both need!
  • I hear ya... I too feel alone. That's why I joined MFP. :) Hopefully I won't get discouraged this time.

You're not alone... we are all in this together. MFP is the best for support, tips, tricks and all kinds of stuff  you can do it... and you will probably help someone else along the way, good luck!!! You can add me as a friend if you'd like, the more the merrier...
  • I completely understand how you feel, a week ago my boyfriend finally said "ok we are in this together and we are going to eat right and exercise together", well he has not exercised with me yet, and this past monday he cheated and had 4 helpings of chess pie, so I was doing really well and holding it together up until yesterday, but I do feel alone in this and it is really hard, because I do so well in partnerships...but MFP does help a little so hang in there darling we can do it :)
  • The responses made me smile :)

Before? It wasn't all that healthy. I don't eat meals. I just snack all day. Mostly chips and popsicles. I know, I know!!!!

Anyway, when I needed to lose the weight really quickly, I just tossed the chips and popsicles and restocked the fridge with fruit and veggies. That is literally all I ate. And I chewed gum.

I was walking 10 miles a day. The first 17 pounds I lost in the first week and a half.

Anywho, hopefully becoming a more active member will make it easier this time around

"Uncle Sam wants you to lose weight" - are you in the military? I am in the Navy.

You're definitely NOT alone if you are logging into MFP. This is a great resource if you will use it. Please add me as a friend if you want some extra encouragement:flowerforyou:

You CAN do this!! There are sooo many great people on this site that will help you reach your goals:-) Good luck!

Everyone on this site supports you!
But if you really need one-on-one help, maybe you could start a thread here on MFP looking for local people to workout with.
  • That is an excellent idea. Duh!
