5K Race T-Shirts...what to do?

So I am not a t-shirt gal anymore. After hiding in them for years, I just refuse to wear a box, however, I'm earning a t-shirt with each 5K I run in. Does anyone have any creative ideas what do do with them?

Looking forward to hearing what suggestions you get. The only thing I do is roll up my sleeves to my shoulder, but that's mostly because it's hot outside.0

make a quilt of them to keep you warm in the wintertime....0

How about stuffing them and making throw pillows out of them.0

keep the logos and whenever you're done or at your goal weight if you're here to lose weight, make/pay someone to make a quilt to document your runs!0

cool idea quilting them! i know a lady in town that quilts (as i can only sew a button!). :blushing:0

I've got shirts from races that I've done and I just use them to work out in at the gym. They are good conversation starters and almost like a badge of honor!!0

The quilt is great, but if you get like me and after two quilts, it makes sense just to donate them (if they are in good shape).0

Look at the generation t books on how to transform tshirts into other stuff0
-
My kids use them as sleep shirts.0
-
I use mine at the gym or when running outside.0

I'm saving mine to make a memories quilt with. I will cut them apart to show each logo, and write in sharpie upon each what my time was.
I have three so far, I need to get running if I ever want my quilt!!!0 -
@TheGoktor....THANKS! i've been wanting to do that to some of my zumba shirts!0

Sometimes, you can get a discount on the race if you don't get the t-shirt - never hurts to ask!
Or, wear them proudly as they display your hard earned accomplishments0 -

I do exactly what those 5K t-shirts are made for... I run in them!0 -
I would wear nothing but t-shirts if I could, so I don't have this problem, but I do have some "memory" type shirts from other things that no longer fit me, I'm planning on doing the t-shirt quilt thing with them one of these days...0

bump... when I finally get a few shirts0

I'm into the quilt idea, they are very easy to make, and last for years. You can also have some photo transfer done, so a before and after photo, and also your race t shirts would be awesome!0

I've been saving all of mine for my "fat-kid" quilt. Once I'm not a fat kid anymore and can't wear the shirts, it will be a nice cozy reminder of where I've come from and how hard I had to work to get there.0

I was initally going to say the quilt idea, but I guess you already got that
Some races allow you to opt out of the t-shirt and they instead donate $5 to the charity it benefits or something like that. Also, bystanders might like to have them if you see someone your size watching, you might just ask them if they would like it.
Finally, donating them to a local thrift store. The non-profit I work for owns a thrift store and they get in brand new (and used) 5k, Relay for Life, college events, etc. type t-shirts all the time and people buy them like crazy! You could save the t-shirts that represent a race you remember well and donate the rest.0 -
Make sure you get a picture of you at each race wearing the t-shirt then donate them.
That way you keep the memory but not the clutter! It's also a great way to document the shape you are in for each race.0 -
Turn them into grocery bags with some simple stitching...you could even line them with some kinda sturdy/leak-proof fabric. Or donate them to women's shelter/charity. Ooor see if you can opt out and donate to charities in place of getting a t-shirt!0

I had to finally start donating mine!! :glasses:0

Here's an idea for what to do. Have them made into a Poster or Canvas Print to hang on your wall. Digiteeze photographs your shirts, medals, bibs, etc. and creates a piece of art to commemorate your achievement. See http://www.digiteeze.com; the nice thing is no items are altared since they are photographed so you get your shirts and bibs back for whatever else you want to do with them (donate, wear, quilt, etc.)0

make a quilt!0

I like the quilt idea. Sewing stretchy fabric can be a bit of a pain, but it's just a few simple zig zag type stitches on the sewing machine to chain the cut out squares together and you can usually find someone with a longarm machine to do the actual quilting.0
