I always been a bit chubby since I had my 2 children, my weight is around 190-95 lbs. I know its bad when I eat stuff that I'm not suppose to but I do it anyway. I have big weakness for cheese, cold cut, bread, and other salty stuff. I found it very difficult to resist.
Can you share how you control yourself?

When it becomes more important to you than satisfying your cravings, you will find the willpower within yourself.

If it isn't important enough for you to stick with it, you are only torturing yourself.

BTW, weight loss isn't about what you eat, it is about how much you eat.

I control it by measuring out portions of everything, filling up on less calorie dense things such as produce, and finding something else to do when a pointless snack attack starts. There is always a load of laundry to do, a counter to wipe down or an errand to run that makes me forget about mindless eating.

I am still in the midst of dealing with the same struggle. What has worked for me is walking away and then chewing a piece of gum to keep my mouth busy, brushing my teeth or getting busy with something. The benefit of this is that my house has never been more organized and my dentist will be very happy with me at my next cleaning! ;)

Unless you have hypertension that is influenced by salt, there isn't a real reason to limit your salty foods other than making sure you meat your calorie goals.

Never getting too hungry and filling up on fullness-enhancing foods like fat, protein, veggies, and fiber makes temptation much less of an issue.

I either don't keep trigger foods in the house or replaced them with something similar but that doesn't trigger me to overeat. For example, I will overeat bread made from flour but not bread made from sprouted grains like Food for Life or Alvarado St Bakery.

Pasta is sometimes problematic. I've been doing ok by limiting portions and upping the protein and veggies, but went a little nuts with tuna mac salad over the weekend. Next time I make it, I'll send all the leftovers home with my fiance.

Oh, that's another strategy - I make problematic food, have a portion, and either freeze the rest or give it away.

You can eat all of those. You just have to account for them in your calorie restriction. The issue with most people is that they disregard how many calories they eat in a day and wonder later on how they gained so much weight.

What's the worst thing you ever did for a ham on rye?

Log everything before you put it on your plate and in your mouth. When I see just how many calories is in something like cheese, that often prompts me to scale back on how much of that food I actually serve myself.
And there's no reason why you can't eat "cheese, cold cut, bread, and other salty stuff" so long as you eat them in moderation and they fit into your daily goal. I still eat all of those, just in much smaller amounts.
