hi everyone, I've been trying to loose weight for 6 months now. I started at 68kg and am now 64kg. I feel better, but I feel like I should have lost more. I think part of it is that I'm still living with my parents so what I eat when I'm hungry depends on what they've bought. They are supportive of me wanting to loose weight but they buy so much junk food and it really doesn't help. Is there any way I can make sure I avoid eating it? My goal is 57kg and a calculator I used at the start of the year said I should have reached it by now but I have another 7kg to go.

Set yourself strict rules, allow yourself junk food as treats now and then.

For me, what works is setting myself exercise goals. If I earn extra calories through exercise, then I'm more likely to allow myself a treat. Psychologically it helps me justify it, and not feel bad, and physically it's also better than eating it on top of my regular diet.

Can you buy and prepare your own meals?

I tend to cook a big healthy lunch for the family most days. It's just in the evening when I want something quick, I tell myself I'll cook again but I end up eating a piece of cake or something while I'm chopping the vegetables

I am living with family while looking for a house to purchase so I am in a similar position. This is what I do: I buy a lot of vegetables and I buy my own whole wheat pasta. I eat carrots and radishes when they eat rice and I buy oatmeal and raisens for breakfast. I buy Nature's Own whole wheat sandwich thins for sandwiches. Where I can, I shop at Farmers Markets and the 99cents store for vegetables and fruit. I eat their dinner but I calculate its calories FIRST each day so I know what I have to work with. Hope this helps. Feel free to friend me! :-)
