Eating at a caloric deficit will help you lose weight. Yoga, while a wonderful practice for flexibility, stress relief and a host of other benefits, will not directly help you lose weight. Exercise is for fitness, and diet (i.e. your deficit) is for weight loss. Exercise of any form can contribute to the caloric deficit, however, I don't believe that yoga burns a great deal of calories.0

Yoga can help you be more mindful, which can extend to what you are eating. I know fellow yoga practitioners that lost quite a bit of weight when they started yoga. While I still eat too much, I eat a lot better than I did before I started yoga.0
