Feeling Frustrated! Stupid Scale!

Hello MFP community!

I have been back on MFP for 40 days now. I feel like this is my billionth time back here. One of these times I'm going to succeed LOL. I used MFP in the past and lost 60ish pounds but I started school and stepped into a nursing program. So LOTS of sitting and studying, poor eating habits and not enough time to cook healthy meals. Well, I am blessed to say that I am a stay at home momma now and am trying yet again to become healthy. I have been logging my food (almost regularly, my days are busy and sometimes I just forget if the day was too eventful) and exercising daily. Today marks 40 days of exercising regularly burning anywhere from 700-1000 calories and eating between 1500-1900 calories. The scale is not moving! I am so frustrated. I've lost inches (around 11in.) but the scale isn't moving. I know it's not a race but in the past my body would have already started dropping numbers on the scale by now (I am 31, if that matters?). I only have a few active friends so I'd really love to see more activity on my feed. If you're struggling too please add me! Let's help one another! I have a Fitbit charge as well, that I love and use to keep me accountable to hitting my 10k steps a day! If you'd like to be Fitbit friends too you can find me here:

Two things for you to think about.
    1. Losing inches is more important than what a scale shows unless, of course, you wear your scale around your neck for all to see. But I don't think you would do that. LOL
    2. My other thought is you may be over estimating your calorie burns. How do you calculate them? MFP and machines are notoriously generous with their numbers.

I use a heart rate monitor watch and strap around my chest that calculates my weight and how active I am. I don't trust MFP or the machines for that reason alone haha!!

I know the number on the scale isn't as important as losing inches but I'm 6foot and my weight fluctuating between 340-344, my highest was 365ish. Normally I'd have seen a drop in the scale by now. So I'm frustrated and annoyed. It feels like my hard work isn't paying off. I feel like I weigh too much to have not seen a drop yet!

But if the scale is not moving then something is wrong with your logging. Do you use a food scale?

I don't! I had one in the past and had a lot of success with it. It got lost in a move.. So I guess it's time to suck it up and buy another one!!

Try to not angst about the numbers. Focus on eating healthy and exercising. I bet you are developing awesome muscle tone from exercising. Probably feels great when clothes look/feel loose. Try to rethink your mental idea of what it means to get healthy. It is not just a number on a scale. That has helped me stay focused and ignore the bully in my head taunting me when the scale doesn't move.

Stay strong and keep sweating. You got this!

Yep. Get another food scale because you should be losing. If you haven't seen this yet you need to watch this video, it's eye opening.

What sort of exercises are you doing? Note that heart rate monitors may give a more accurate calorie burn info (stress *may*) for constant output exercise (i.e. steady state cardio) like running or heads down cycling (not 'leisurely') and that's it. HR info doesn't lead to better burn info for strength training.

Regardless of exercise type, are you eating 100% of your burn calories back? Over-estimated burn plus under recording eating (no scale) are more than enough to stall progress.

Maybe its not the scale but the fact you are eaing more and burning less than you think.
