Food scale. I want one with regular batteries.

I went to Walmart.
All the food scales that were digital took strange batteries.
I hate buying special batteries.
I had kids, did the battery thing, and swore off off sized batteries in anything for life.
(If you are a mom, you will understand the nightmare).
The cheapest one with digital is $14.97 or so.
Question:
1. IF I were to buy a digital scale with "strange" batteries how long would the batteries last?
I would throw the scale away after the battery went out. I really would.
I would want it to last at least 4 years weighing 2 meals a day.
2. Any stores like Kmart, Bed Bath B, or others sell scales with normal batteries
Notes: I already have the old fashioned $4.97 one.
It's just hard to deal with when things are in plates.
I like the Tare/reset option.

I don't know where you are but I bought mine at Superstore in Canada for $15. Takes the classic square battery. I've only changed the battery once in 3 years.

I don't know, but I did buy a 10-pack of the small circular batteries for like $3 on amazon. My scale battery probably lasts 6+ months.0

I bought the Ozeri Pronto Digital Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale on Amazon and love it. It uses AAA batteries.0

The Taylor model I've used uses AAA, and they've lasted forever in that thing. The only scales I'd avoid are the ones Walmart sells under their Mainstays brand, since they always default to oz and the switch to change is on the bottom.0

My scale was 5.95 on ebay and uses AAA batteries. This is my second scale. My first one lasted 3+ years with almost daily use, numerous times a day. It is just a generic digital food scale.0

If the strange battery dies, remove the battery. Take it with you to an office supply store. Hand the battery to one of the nerds and say please help me.0

The mainstays scale I bought has the unit button on the front.

I'd tell you that my Soehnle scale is into it's 4th year without needing a new battery, despite daily use, but there's no point because you won't come back to this thread.0

I know the old scale died. I read the post. She also said she would rather toss a scale if it meant dealing with replacing a strange battery.
