Frustrated

I'm a 47 year old female who has just recently beat breast cancer. I've had a double mastectomy and undergone 4 rounds of chemotherapy, but I'm determined to get my life back. Noone told me that i was likely to gain weight during my treatment. I've been at it 45 days now, eating better, exercising, and tracking what I do... I'm frustrated because I feel I should have at least lost 10 pounds by now! I'm trying very hard not to lose my motivation and give up.

Are you accurately measuring and weighing what you are eating, or eyeballing it and guessing?0

I just bought a scale to more accurately measure my meats... but, yeah I mostly measure everything if it's not already portioned for me.0

You ahve been eating more thna you think and burning less.
Whilst its admirable you wnat to get your life back on track, cut yourself some slack and dont lay heavy expectations on yourself. Weight loss is about creating consistent deficits. Feeling like you should have lost 10lbs would mean youd need to have created a min of 35,000 calories in aggregate deficit. If you have only just got a scale then its probable your measuring is inaccurate.
Take it steady and be patiently consistent.0 -
Thank you...I spoke to a nutritionist and she said I might not be eating enough in some instances... she says it looks like I'm doing all the right things, but my body may not be giving anything up because it's trying to protect itself.0

You already said you werent measuring with a scale so you have no idea if thats the cause or not. Its the usual cause for people not losing. If you wnat to go down the starvation mode route then thats up to you, but consensus on these forums is its a myth. You need to look after your state of mind and avoid stress. Part of that is knowing what you are doing and following good practice in calorie counting.0

I just started with a scale this past week... and I was pretty accurate with my portions. I'm just going to keep moving forward. I'm enjoying the new foods I'm finding. And, I am finding that if I focus on the good, the less stressed I am... and no matter what I always feel good after my workouts... thank you again for your input... checking in each day looking for any advice also keeps me going0

Hi, I've also been though BC treatment. I am currently waiting for my body to bounce back from a chemically induced early menopause (I am 34). It could just be that your hormones are still a bit out of whack so your metabolism is off. Keep up the good work and you will get there!
It is just so hard to be patient waiting for your body to get back to normal!0 -
