Hi. This is Mary from Milwaukee. I am using my FitBit and My Fitness Pal to help me on my road to recovery following a double mastectomy. Still can't lift or do much with my arms, but I am now able to walk. My goal is to walk just a few steps further each day. Anybody else in cancer recovery mode? Would like someone to share the journey with. Steps, nutritious food, and eventually, other exercise.

Hi Mary, I'm Cynthia from NY. I'm recovering from thyroid cancer, surgery was this past December and radioactive iodine treatment in march. I've gained about 40 lbs in the last year and really looking forward to losing this weight and then some. Just starting MFP today and I'm looking to get a fit bit or something similar to help. My problem, because lack of thyroid and adjusting to meds, I often feel tired and drained. Plus, I tend to snack and have a terrible sweet tooth, so that doesn't help. Looking to get back to the gym and eating healthier. Not only will we be able to lose weight, we will kick cancers butt :D

@CGelbke I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). I lost more slowly than most MFPers, so be patient! But I did it just like everybody else—by eating fewer calories than I burn. I followed the advice in the Sexypants post: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1

Meds (in my case, Synthroid & Cytomel) reduce the fatigue so I can be more active. But I kept gaining until I learned to log everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly. Logging works.

If you get a Fitbit, add me as a friend. @Speeechy too: https://www.fitbit.com/user/278TJW Fitbit challenges are great motivation—and fun!

I went through my BC treatment last year. 4 rounds chemo, 6 weeks rads and currently on tamoxifen. Finally have some energy to start getting my weight in check. Would love to share some motivation and support! I will sent you a friend request now :-)

Hi Mary! Although I am not currently in recovery mode, but I had a double mastectomy with tram flap procedure almost 11 years ago in my early 30's. Kudo's to you for wanting to improve your health in recovery and good luck in your journey. Feel free to add me if you like.
