I have a fit bit so I use that to track activity and also have it synced to MFP. It currently shows as 1463 calories burnt today, I know they are not 100% accurate but is that about right.

I've Walked for an hour at a moderate pace. Played in the park with my children and done so cleaning at home. Most days my Fitbit shows I have burnt around 1500 some day can go over 2000 (by the end of the day). To me it seems a lot so I just wondered if it's correct or totally unreliable

Many find them reliable, that 1500 or 2000 includes the energy cost of living (estimated) as well as exercise and movement.

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight. The only way to gauge the accuracy is to enable negative calorie adjustments, trust your Fitbit for several weeks, then reevaluate your progress.

Thanks will give that a try
  • That sounds about right. I find my Fitbit to be rather accurate and I'm at 1350 calories burned, I've been awake for 8 hours and other than laundry, I haven't done much of anything.
